台積電赴美設廠引發的「台積新村」房產熱潮正吸引眾多投資者關注。位於美國亞利桑那州鳳凰城的這處住宅區,提供室內近90坪、5房2廳4衛4車位的獨棟別墅,售價約台幣2400萬元。據房產業者透露,台積電高層主管已一次購入10戶作為出租用途,還有電子業者預購第二期的50棟住宅。然而,專家提醒投資者需注意美國房產的高持有成本,包括房產稅、保險和維修費用等,尤其是不在當地的房東更需謹慎評估。

這處被暱稱為「台積新村」的住宅區位於鳳凰城,距離台積電廠區約20分鐘車程。SO不動產業執行長曾意婷表示,鳳凰城的地稅較低,目前已有超過20組客戶成交,其中一位大客戶希望買下下一期的50間住宅。第一期推出的88戶住宅,現在只剩9戶左右。

房產業者在竹北舉辦的說明會吸引了大量人潮。北鳳凰城地區除了台積電、英特爾外,還有供應鏈大廠如製造EUV光罩盒的家登、熱能控制系統的意德士以及材料供應商崇越科技等紛紛設廠,使當地住宅需求大幅增加。台積新村第一期於今年5月開賣,目前幾乎售罄,僅剩個位數的房源。

房產業者介紹,這些住宅不僅格局方正,還擁有高挑的客廳、大面窗戶,能讓充足陽光灑入室內。此外,附近學區有全美排名領先的知名高中,增添了居住價值。

房仲徐佳馨提醒,雖然科技新貴財力不錯,但若他們之後自行購置房產,對包租公的獲利空間將有所減少。同時,美國不動產的持有成本非常高,投資者需考量房產稅、房屋保險和維修保養等費用,尤其是人不在當地的包租公,還需支付額外的管理費用,因此在進駐前應做好全面評估。

Amkor Technology, Inc.,全球領先的半導體封裝與測試服務供應商,宣布調整其在亞利桑那州新建先進封裝與測試廠的選址計畫。

根據官方新聞稿,新廠將落腳於亞利桑那州 Peoria 市北部的 Peoria Innovation Core,用地面積達 104 英畝。Peoria 市議會已一致通過土地交換及修訂後的開發協議,允許 Amkor 以此基地交換原先規劃於 Five North at Vistancia 社區的 56 英畝土地。新廠預計將於近日動工,並在 2028 年初正式投產。

Amkor 總裁暨執行長 Giel Rutten 表示:「身為美國最大的先進封裝公司,Amkor 很自豪能夠投資美國半導體製造,並強化美國半導體供應鏈。」

Peoria 市長 Jason Beck 則指出,這項合作可為社區帶來 20 億美元投資與 2,000 個就業機會,同時強化 Peoria 在美國關鍵半導體供應鏈中的戰略地位。他強調,這象徵城市長遠規劃與公私協力的成果。

Amkor 自 1984 年起便在大鳳凰城地區營運,是美國規模最大的先進封裝與測試服務公司,與 日月光、矽品、長電科技等並列全球前幾大封測廠。未來,Amkor 指出將攜手台積電與其他國際半導體企業,提供高產能的先進封裝與測試服務,讓美國晶片在地化的計畫更往前一步。

台北國際航太暨國防工業展將於9月登場,台美合作備受矚目,且因美國「非紅供應鏈」需求急切,業內傳出,美方邀請台灣無人機供應鏈組國家隊赴美投資,將由漢翔(2634)帶頭,無人機台鏈將全面搶攻北美無人機市場。

台北國際航太暨國防工業展將於9月18日到20日在台北南港展覽館登場,今年展覽規模再創新高紀錄,匯集來自14個國家、超過400家參展商,展出規模超過1,400個攤位,較上屆成長逾25%,商機規模至少逾千億元。 業內指出,「台美合作」將是此次國防工業展的最大主題。

據悉,漢翔秘密啟動無人機台鏈在美落地計畫,並邀請各指標台廠共同赴美投資、打造無人機製造供應鏈大平台。對此,漢翔僅表示,漢翔身為「台灣卓越無人機海外商機聯盟主席,整合台廠赴國際搶單責無旁貸。

另一方面,包括無人機大廠雷虎科技、積極搶攻無人機與機器人商機的和大集團,也都計畫前進美國設廠,可望由漢翔領軍、在美打造無人機(載具)製造大平台,這也象徵台美軍工產業合作將邁入新紀元。

業內指出,由於台灣近幾年積極發展無人載具,且屬非紅供應鏈,美系無人機大廠有意與台廠合作,除了邀請台廠赴美設廠之外,也規劃在台灣設立無人載具研發中心。

市場傳出,包括東元、中光電、緯創及邦泰,都有可能加入策略聯盟。

經濟部與漢翔等主要企業,去年9月成立「台灣卓越無人機海外商機聯盟(TEDIBOA)」並針對美國、日本和歐洲各國,陸續派出訪問團,致力於建立合作框架,並建立不依賴中國的供應鏈。

漢翔董事長胡開宏表示,國內某科技大廠希望由漢翔帶隊,前往美國設立供應鏈,因為該科技廠可以接單,但沒有軍工相關生產技術與設備,而漢翔在美國有廠,可以擔任領頭羊角色,就近接單生產,供應美國客戶,並協助在美設立供應鏈。

為貼近國外系統商客戶,漢翔在美國亞利桑那州已購置廠房,並完成裝機,現正進行驗廠作業,預計2026年底前可以進行首件小批量產,2027年將正式投產。

台積電(2330)持續加快在美國布局,業界最新傳出,台積電在美國所規劃的兩座先進封裝廠(AP1、AP2)剛進入整地工程,預計於2026年下半年開始蓋廠,目標2028年開廠啟用。在製程規劃上,AP1規劃擴充最先進的SoIC及CoW,AP2則是鎖定CoPoS,以因應當地生產AI、HPC晶片封裝需求。

台積電先前表示,美國第三座晶圓廠(P3)將採用N2和A16製程技術,第四座晶圓廠(P4)也將採用N2和A16製程技術,第五座和第六座晶圓廠(P5、P6)則將採用更先進的技術。這些晶圓廠的建設和量產計劃將依客戶的需求而定,並計劃在亞利桑那州興建兩座新的先進封裝設施,以及設立一間研發中心,以完善AI供應鏈。

台積電有了美國第一座晶圓廠所累積的經驗後,目前整體擴廠進度加速中,且相當順利。業界最新消息指出,公司正計畫美國第二座晶圓廠(P2)的B區提前導入2奈米製程(原本在P3)。而先進封裝廠則位於P3對面、隔一道馬路,原本預計2027後才要興建,現在大幅加快到2026年下半年。

業界人士表示,封裝廠建置速度相較晶圓廠來得快,以台積電旗下嘉義廠來看,該廠於2024年5月動工,一度挖到遺跡而喊卡,並發生工安意外、淹水等事件,但仍然會在今年第四季展開裝機。美國封裝廠已開始整地,預計明年下半年正式展開興建,相關機台最快在2028年上半年陸續裝機,同年底有望小量生產。

在製程規劃上,AP1將導入SoIC、CoW,AP2則規劃CoPoS。其中,SoIC是目前台積電已量產的封裝技術中、最為領先的,並會與後段CoWoS、甚至到未來的CoPoS進行整合。目前客戶除了有AMD已實現量產外,蘋果、輝達(NVIDIA)、博通等也都會在高階產品採用。

台積電CoPoS技術雖剛起步、但勢在必行,MoneyDJ早在今年6月搶先報導,2026年將設立首條CoPoS實驗線,並落腳采鈺(6789);據悉,這部分主要是CoP段,而oS段則將直接交貨予嘉義廠AP7,最快2028年底在該廠實現大規模量產。正因CoPoS要到2028年後才真正成熟,因此美國AP2再導入CoPoS,才是最適切的時機。

台積電 2025 年上半年度合併財務報告顯示,其亞利桑那州晶圓廠(TSMC Arizona)在經歷了長達四年、累計近新台幣 400 億元的虧損後,終於在 2025 年上半年連續兩季獲利之後正式轉虧為盈,象徵其在美國的製造布局已成功步上正軌。而且,台積電在當地的設廠也為當地原本一片沙漠的社區,提供了帶積極轉型與變化。


根據當地媒體 The Eagle 的專文報導,在美國亞利桑那州鳳凰城以北的廣袤沙漠當中,正因台積電的投資擴產,不但聳立著拔地而起的廠房與無塵室,更帶來了深遠的經濟與社會變革,漣漪效應遍及「陽光之谷」的各個社區、學校與小型企業。其中,隨著 2025 年 3 月宣布增資 1,000 億美元,使其承諾投資總額達到 1,650 億美元,台積電亞利桑那廠已成為美國史上最大的外國直接投資項目。

而這項投資不僅僅是龐大數字,更創造了實質的就業機會。預計前三座廠房投入營運後,將提供 6,000 個永久性高科技職位。此外,建廠期間已累積超過 20,000 個獨特營建工作,並透過供應商和服務提供者創造了數萬個間接職位。目前,每天有 5,000 或更多建築工人在北鳳凰城工地辛勤工作,這些工作為數年的建設期提供了穩定的就業機會。

而為了台積電建廠與未來生產的人力需求,當地的馬里科帕社區學院(Maricopa Community Colleges)推出的「半導體快速啟動計畫」(Semiconductor Quick Start program)廣受歡迎,自 2022 年以來,已有 6,176 名學生提交興趣表,4,000 人通過預評估測試,超過 900 人獲得認證。其中,23 歲的當地居民 Sterling Wilson 在完成為期 10 天的「半導體快速啟動計畫」後,現已成為台積電首座廠房的光罩技術員。

台積電與鳳凰城、亞利桑那州商務局,以及馬里科帕社區學院、大峽谷大學(Grand Canyon University)和北亞利桑那大學(Northern Arizona University)等教育機構合作,啟動了全美首創的半導體技師學徒計畫。台積電亞利桑那廠總經理 Rose Castanares 強調,利用當地多元人才庫並與世界級美國教育體系合作,是台積電當年設廠時的重要考量。這項計畫獲得公司 500 萬美元的投資,提供 18 個月至四年不等的多元學習途徑。參與者在接受在職培訓和課堂指導的同時,也能獲得全職工資。首批 8 名學徒已於 2024 年 4 月開始培訓,並計畫在 2025 年擴增至約 130 人。

此外,亞利桑那州立大學(ASU)與台積電的合作深化了半導體領域的人才培養。目前, ASU有超過 7,000名 學生在微電子相關領域學習,合作內容包括專業課程、獎學金和研究機會。美國商務部和 Natcast 於 2025 年 1 月宣布,選定亞利桑那州立大學研究園區設立國家半導體技術中心(NSTC)設施,進一步鞏固了亞利桑那州在半導體生態系統中的關鍵地位。

根據大鳳凰城經濟發展委員會(Greater Phoenix Economic Council)的分析顯示,僅最初的 650 億美元投資,在 13 年內預計將產生 12 億美元的直接稅收和 1.95 億美元的間接稅收。個人收入方面,直接收入創造達 46 億美元,間接收入則達 48 億美元,總計對個人收入影響高達 93 億美元。

亞利桑那州商會總裁兼執行長 Danny Seiden 指出,2025 年新投資的 1,000 億美元將刺激對公寓和住房的需求,帶動建商發展,並透過高薪工作者在當地消費、購買雜貨,進而增加亞利桑那州的稅基。最顯著的經濟轉型體現是麥克地產集團(Mack Real Estate Group)投資 70 億美元開發的混合用途項目 Halo Vista,該項目將環繞台積電廠區。在這片2,300英畝的土地將包含 1,200 萬平方英尺的工業空間、350 萬平方英尺的研究與技術設施,以及可容納近 9,000 居民的住宅區,預計全面開發後將支持 62,000 個工作崗位。

而除了大規模建設和勞動力計畫,台積電也透過小型社區計畫直接造福當地居民。每月在廠區舉辦的農產品市場,讓員工和社區成員能以 15 美元購買新鮮蔬果箱,這些農產品原本可能因外觀不佳而被丟棄。透過這項合作,據報已轉移超過 7 萬磅的農產品廢棄物,同時為鳳凰城谷地的家庭提供平價食物選擇。公司還與美國紅十字會亞利桑那州與新墨西哥分會合作,定期舉辦現場捐血活動,近期的一次活動據報收集的血液足以拯救多達 186 名醫院病人。

在永續發展方面,台積電承諾於 2028 年建成的工業廢水回收廠,將實現 90% 的用水回收率,這在亞利桑那州的沙漠環境中至關重要。目前,該廠已達到 65% 的用水回收率,並從鳳凰城市購買所有用水,確保符合市政當局 100 年用水供應計畫。廠區內還將安裝兼作遮陽棚的太陽能電板,提供 14.5 兆瓦的再生能源。自 2023 年起,台積電購買再生能源憑證,涵蓋 100% 的用電量,使其成為全球企業再生能源倡議 RE100 中首家加入的半導體公司。

由於台積電這個全球半導體大廠的進駐,吸引了整個供應商和合作夥伴生態系統。大鳳凰城經濟發展委員會總裁兼執行長 Chris Camacho 表示,自台積電宣布投資以來,已吸引 39 家半導體相關公司進駐該地區,創造了超過 7,700 個工作機會和超過 370 億美元的資本投資。而且,台積電的 14 家主要供應商已宣布在美國建立設施,其中許多選擇落腳鳳凰城附近,包括工業氣體、化學品和設備組件供應商,形成在地化的供應鏈,降低運輸成本和環境影響,同時創造更多就業機會。半導體產業活動的高度集中,甚至促使在舊金山舉辦了50多年的主要行業會議 SEMICON West 自 2025 年起遷至鳳凰城,進一步證明了鳳凰城做為半導體重鎮的地位。

展望未來,隨著第二、三座廠房的持續開始建設,預計分別於 2028 年和本世紀末投產,其對社區的影響將會更加深遠。每座廠房的建設耗時數年,隨後數十年的營運將帶來持續的經濟活動,而非僅是暫時的榮景。

台積電(2330)財報已顯示,首度認列TSMC Arizona 64.47億元投資收益。法人分析,台積電美國P1廠2024年第4季才開始量產N4晶圓,進入量產半年後就可以轉虧為盈,背後有兩大關鍵,預期後續規模經濟效益擴張下獲利持續看增。

法人分析,台積電美國廠獲利兩大關鍵包含:客戶訂單滿載,使產能利用率達到高檔,另外預期台積電可以順利轉嫁當地較高昂成本。

不過,法人也分析,美國的政策可能變動,232半導體關稅與對等關稅等干擾景氣短期波動可能潛在影響台積電獲利,可是大環境因素個別公司無法改變,不過台積電競爭力仍將優於同業。

台灣半導體協會(TSIA)13日發布統計新聞稿,引用工研院產科國際所最新數據顯示,二度上修今年台灣半導體產值估逾6.4兆元,年增逾22%,主要是晶圓代工強勁成長,估計較2024年產值成長28.3%。

台灣半導體協會先前5月引用工研院產科國際所數據發布統計新聞稿,數據顯示,當時首度上修今年台灣半導體產值估逾6.3兆元,年增19.1%,其中晶圓代工成長年成長幅度高達23.8%居冠。外界預期主要是台積電帶動。

台積電日前公布今年7月營收3,231.6億元,月增22.5%,年增25.8%,為歷史次高、同期新高,優於預期。台積電前七月營收首度突破2兆元關卡,達2兆962.1億元,年增37.6%,為同期新高。

台積電先前召開法說會,預估第3季美元營收318億至330億美元,平均值324億美元,季增約8%。符合市場預估季增3%至7%區間,毛利率55.5%至57.5%較前一季下滑,第3季匯率假設基礎為1美元兌新台幣29元,第3季新台幣將升值6.6%,估計將影響新台幣營收約6.6%,影響毛利率約2.6個百分點。

似乎是隨著美國總統川普政策的關稅戰、讓美國再次偉大(MAGA)政策起舞,美國傳奇投資人巴菲特第二季(Q2)持股也做出相應調整。

綜合美國財經媒體《IBD》與《CNBC》報導,美國「股神」巴菲特控股的波克夏海瑟威(Berkshire Hathaway)周四(8月14日)下午提交給美國證管員會(SEC)的季度13-F表格顯示,巴菲特增持紐柯鋼鐵(Nucor和聯合健康集團(UnitedHealth)的股票,同時減碼更多蘋果公司和美國銀行的股票。

波克夏Q2加碼兩檔建商股

巴菲特也增持建商公司D.R. Horton(DHI)的股票,同時增持另一家大型建商萊納(Lennar)的股票。加碼的消息傳來,UNH、NUE、DHI和LEN周四盤後股價全面上揚,漲幅依序為12.6%、7.7%、4.4%、6.2%,波克夏海瑟威另一檔新進股票拉瑪廣告(LAMR)股價也上漲。

波克夏先前於5月15日提交的13-F文件中提到,該公司在第一季報告遺漏一檔或是多檔持股,「並且請求美國SEC對這些持股進行保密處理」。

13-F文件並未詳細說明巴菲特神秘買進哪些股票。報告顯示,截至6月30日,波克夏持有紐柯鋼鐵公司660萬股股份,市價8.57億美元,波克夏買進500萬股的聯合健康集團股票,市價15.7億美元。

目前為止,波克夏的聯合健康集團持股帳面虧損,聯合健康周四收在每股271.49美元,比波克夏311.97美元的平均買價低了13%。然而,巴菲特披露入股後,聯合健康周四盤後股價飆漲12.6%或34.39美元,報每股305.84美元。

媒體認為,UNH似乎並非秘密入股標的,因為該公司股價在第一季曾經大漲至438.50 美元,然後在第二季大幅下跌。

美國30年房貸利率趨跌

在巴菲特披露增持股票的消息後,紐柯鋼鐵周四盤後股價大漲7.7%,報每股155.5美元。MarketSurge數據顯示,波克夏買進紐柯股票的均價為129.54美元,帳面報酬率為8.3%,這對波克夏來說是一筆划算的交易,媒體猜測紐柯鋼鐵很有可能是巴菲特秘密選股標的。

值得一提的是,波克夏增持2檔建商股票。波克夏揭露持有149萬股D.R. Horton股票。截至6月30日,D.R. Horton持股的市值為1.9149億美元。

巴菲特還大幅增持Lennar公司股份,從3月31日的152,572股大增至723萬股,使得波克夏的Lennar持股市值達到7.987億美元。

由於7月份就業報告出乎意料低迷,房屋貸款利率下降,這兩家建商股價近期均上漲。

美國上周四公布,7月份非農就業新增人數僅7.3萬人,遠低於市場預期。除此之外,5月與6月的就業數據大幅下滑。

美國新增就業人數慘淡

5月新增就業人數從14.4 萬人大幅下修至1.9 萬人,6 月從14.7萬人大幅下修至1.4萬人,創下疫情以來最低紀錄。低迷的就業數據反映出關稅對就業市場造成的壓力,市場對美國經濟前景的信心也因此動搖。

上周,美國平均30年期房貸利率下跌至去年10月24日以來的10個月低點,達到6.58%,相較前一周的6.63%下滑0.05個百分點。

巴菲特保持低調,《巴倫周刊》報導指出,巴菲特先前曾要求在波克夏增持新投資股份時進行保密處理,以免向投資人洩漏訊息。先前的例子包括巴菲特投資70億美元參股保險公司Chubb,這筆投資於2024年5月首次披露,此前他曾兩次季度13-F文件密而不宣參股Chubb的數量,這段經歷表明,巴菲特可能會在接下來的一個季度保持低調。

最新一季13-F文件還更新波克夏前5大公司持股的變動,包括蘋果、美國銀行、美國運通、雪佛龍石油公司(Chevron)和可口可樂。

巴菲特減碼蘋果和美銀股票

巴菲特在第二季底蘋果的持股為2.8億股,少於第一季底的3億股,比起2023年第三季底的持股水準,大減逾三分之二。

巴菲特也減碼4%的美國銀行持股,截至6月30日,波克夏持有的美國銀行股份為6.0527億股,少於3月31日的6.3157億股。

在減碼蘋果和美國銀行股份的同時,今年第二季,巴菲特已經連續11個季度淨賣超股票。巴菲特持有的可口可樂和美國運通的股票數量保持不變。他增持雪佛龍股票,增幅為2.9%,相當於加碼345萬股。

8月4日,波克夏公司公佈第二季財報後,股價一度跌至6個月低點459.11美元,之後股價小幅反彈,但仍低於50日線和200日線,14日小漲1.91美元或0.4%,收479.22美元。

再一次,美國主導全球供應鏈重組,台積電、鴻海、緯創等台廠紛紛赴美設廠,打造新一波「美國製造」版圖。從補貼、人才到文化磨合,這不只是出海投資,更是一場關乎制度與競爭力的跨國適應戰。

再一次,美國以一己之力主導了全球供應鏈的大遷徙。

美國製造業回流的「代表作」,位於亞利桑那州,從303號州道下去,高速公路上就能望見台積電在美國的第一座4奈米晶圓廠。巨大的建築體矗立在荒無人煙的地平線上,彷彿一艘降落在地球的太空船。

銀灰色的金屬邊框,在陽光下閃耀著冷冽光芒。兩棟建築之間以空橋連接,讓人聯想到太空船停靠星際港口的場景。

儘管遠離台灣家鄉一萬多公里,但這裡的標準作業流程、對細節的嚴苛要求,譬如其中一棟屋頂上「長出」的冰機冷卻塔,隔壁棟上方一大群的製程酸鹼排氣管,都清晰拷貝了台積電那舉世聞名的效率與精準。

首批4奈米製程晶片已經下線,標誌著「美國製造」在半導體領域的重大突破。「這是美國這麼久以來首次量產先進晶片,」長居鳳凰城、北美洲台灣商會聯合總會前總會長張聖儀說。

從半導體到人工智慧,美國正以真金白銀的政策補貼和關稅高壓,推動產業鏈「本土重建」,不僅重塑全球供應鏈格局,更暗藏著技術霸權的爭奪邏輯。

為推動產業回流,美國打出了「補貼牌」,政策力道空前。美國商務部官網公告,透過《晶片與科學法案》(CHIPS and Science Act),台積電將獲66億美元直接融資,英特爾78.65億美元,環球晶則獲得4.06億美元的直接資金獎勵。

而2025年7月生效的美國「大而美」法案(One Big Beautiful Bill Act),更將半導體工廠的投資稅收抵免從25%提高至35%,且2026年底前開工的項目均可享受。

新一波產業轉移由美國總統川普(Donald Trump)強力推動,台灣電子業無不嚴陣以待,甚至蓄勢待發。

聚落成形》科技廊道成型,台廠集結

經濟部長郭智輝則是觀察到,拜AI浪潮所賜,台灣對美國的出口金額,屢屢超越對中國大陸加香港出口,美國成為台灣第一大出口目的地,分別發生在2025年的2、5、6月。

「美升中降」現象,同樣出現在台企的海外市場布局。

台灣併購與私募股權協會最新發布的《2025台灣併購白皮書》中,台灣上市櫃公司在中國大陸設有據點的比率,從2012年的69%降為2024年的64.5%;而同一數據在美國,則從2012年的27.4%提高至2024年的30.5%。

只不過,走出台灣走進美國,現在台廠的這條路,走得有點痛苦。

現實困境是成本高、人才不足與缺乏供應鏈,如同三重枷鎖套在身上。「一張工作桌,台灣可能200美元不到,美國這邊要800美元,」緯創一位高層舉例說,這下他就又面臨一個抉擇:到底是當地採買,還是要大老遠從亞洲把建材疊加上運費、關稅送過來,哪個划算?

它們在美國一起建立廠辦共用,一舉降低30%營運成本,而且提供客戶一站式服務,讓客戶可以統包式採購,現階段不計成本不計代價,遠征美國,就是訪眼打下更大的版圖,隨著台積電赴美的史詩級投資,更掀起了台灣跨越太平洋的,產業鏈大遷徙。都早已赴美設廠,在這回都躲過了。

川普最新公布的,半導體100%的關稅,只是隨著產業專家也擔心,未來台灣生產比重將下滑,影響到經濟表現,台經院產經資料庫總監,劉佩真提醒,未來企業包括人才的流失,或是關鍵技術,是否有外洩的風險,都必須進行事先的防範,才能確保台灣持續領先世界。

Across the state in 2024, Surprise's population growth was second only to Phoenix.

Out of the top eight cities in Arizona that had the largest population gains in 2024, three were in the West Valley: Surprise, Goodyear and Buckeye.

The rapid growth of the West Valley has caught the eye of developers. A spate of retail development opening soon in the area includes both new locations of popular chain grocers and stores, like Target, as well as highly anticipated entertainment venues and the cult-favorite gas station Buc-ee's.

Here are seven of the most exciting developments coming soon to the West Valley, including three whose opening represents their Arizona debut.

Aldi
Popular discount grocer ALDI opened a new location in Surprise on July 24. Known for its cheap snacks, produce and frozen food, ALDI operates 12 other locations in Arizona.

Buc-ee's
Arizona's first-ever Buc-ee's location broke ground in Goodyear in May, with an expected opening date of June 2026.

Buc-ee's is technically a travel center or gas station, not a traditional restaurant. But the Texas-based chain has a cult following for its food and drink options, which include homemade fudge, Beaver Nuggets, jerky and fresh pastries.

Details: Southeast corner of Bullard Avenue and Interstate 10 in Goodyear. 

Harkins Backlot
The first Harkins BackLot opened in north Phoenix in July, the first foray of the local movie theater company into entertainment. Another BackLot will open in Verrado Marketplace in Buckeye in 2026. The venue features an arcade, 12 bowling lanes, electronic darts and a sports bar with movie theater-level screens.

Mattel Adventure Park
The Glendale theme park will have a Barbie Beach House with a Barbie Dream Closet Experience, where guests can create their own Barbie sets and hologram technology is used to "bring Barbie to life right before guests' eyes." Other attractions will be themed around Thomas & Friends, He-Man & the Masters of the Universe, and Mattel games such as Uno. Mattel Adventure Park will have two Hot Wheels-themed roller coasters.

The opening date has not yet been announced.

Details: The park is just south of VAI Resort at 95th Avenue and Cardinals Way in Glendale. 

Target
Target plans to open three new stores in Arizona, including one in Buckeye. The new location will be about 148,000 square feet.

Trader Joe's
Trader Joe’s will open a 13,500-square-foot location in downtown Goodyear. The developer said it did not have details available about when the store will open. The grocery store will be in a shopping center with Black Rock Coffee Bar and Firebirds Wood Fired Grill, both of which were scheduled to open in 2026.

There are 18 Trader Joe's stores in Arizona, not counting the new location.

VAI Resort
VAI's first phase will have 1,100 hotel rooms. an 11,000-seat amphitheater and sandy beaches with temperature-controlled water. It will also feature a 50,000-square-foot, European-inspired "party island" called Konos Island with a sky bar that offers food and drinks at 130 feet in the air. Additionally, the resort will offer tethered hot-air balloon rides where passengers can view desert and mountain vistas from 400 feet above ground.

VAI's second phase will include a second concert venue: a 2,000-person capacity, multilevel indoor theater. Originally intending to open in 2024, the resort is targeting a late 2025 opening date. However, the mixed results of a May special election regarding the zoning of a section of the resort may cause further delays.

Mortgage rates fell last week to the lowest level since April, leading current homeowners to seek savings.

Applications to refinance a home loan rose 7% last week compared with the previous week, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association’s seasonally adjusted index. Demand was 40% higher than the same week one year ago.

The average contract interest rate for 30-year fixed-rate mortgages with conforming loan balances, $806,500 or less, decreased to 6.79% from 6.88%, with points falling to 0.62 from 0.63, including the origination fee, for loans with a 20% down payment. That rate is 24 basis points lower than the same week one year ago.

“This decline prompted an increase in refinance applications, driven by a 10 percent increase in conventional applications and a 22 percent increase in VA refinance applications,” said Joel Kan, vice president and deputy chief economist at the MBA. “As borrowers with larger loans tend to be more sensitive to rate changes, the average loan size for a refinance application increased to $313,700 after averaging less than $300,000 for the past six weeks.”

Homebuyers, however, were less driven by the drop in rates. Applications for a mortgage to purchase a home increased just 0.1% for the week and were 16% higher than the same week one year ago.

“Purchase activity was essentially flat over the week, as overall uncertainty continues to hold homebuyers out of the market,” added Kan.

Mortgage rates fell further to start this week, according to a separate survey from Mortgage News Daily. They were then flat Tuesday, following the release of job openings data which showed another increase.

“Rates typically move higher if job openings are higher than expected, all else equal,” wrote Matthew Graham, chief operating officer at Mortgage News Daily, adding that this data-driven volatility is nothing compared with what could be seen on Thursday following the government’s release of the monthly employment report.

The Athletics staked their claim to Las Vegas on Monday, celebrating the groundbreaking for their $1.75 billion Las Vegas Strip ballpark.

Work on the 9 acres of the 35-acre site where the 33,000-fan capacity ballpark will rise kicked off in late April, so the event was more of a celebration of over four years of work to get to the point of construction commencing on the project.

“These things take so long to actually make happen,” A’s owner John Fisher said. “I think today was a great celebration of all the people it takes just to bring (us) just to this spot. Then the next celebration is going to be Opening Day, when we can celebrate the thousands of workers who are putting all of their time and effort and everything behind actually building the stadium itself.”

The morning event, held on the site of the former Tropicana Las Vegas on the southeast corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue, featured dignitaries including A’s ownership and executives, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred, Gov. Joe Lombardo, Clark County commissioners, legislators, members of the Las Vegas Stadium and Las Vegas Convention and Visitors authorities, and representatives from Bally’s Corp.

With Las Vegas already proving itself to be a great professional sports town, adding the MLB into the mix is an exciting aspect for the league and for a team that has a storied history, including winning nine World Series titles, Manfred said.

“All of us at Major League Baseball, all the owners, are excited to be adding Major League Baseball to the entertainment alternatives that are available here in Southern Nevada,” Manfred said. “The Athletics have a long and proud history … I think about today as the beginning of new chapter in that great history.”

Attracting the A’s to Las Vegas is set to further the economic success professional sports already have had in the city, Lombardo said.

“This is an economic driver for the state,” Lombardo told the Review-Journal. “You’re always trying to reinvent yourself to be the new best thing in entertainment; can you think of anything better than Major League Baseball?”

Fisher noted that working with elected officials in the state and Southern Nevada during the stadium process has been easier than working with officials in the Bay Area when the team previously tried to get a new stadium project done in Northern California.

“They‘re used to big projects here in Nevada. You look at the Strip and it’s filled with massive buildings. They just got through opening the Sphere, which is a monumental piece of design and infrastructure,” Fisher said. “So, just the process was easier because they’ve gone through a lot more (major projects).”

Crews won’t waste any time on moving to the next step. Once the tent where the ceremony took place is removed from the site, crews will begin early foundation work Monday night, according to A’s President Marc Badain.

How the A’s got here

In May 2021, the A’s announced that the MLB had given them the green light to explore relocation after years of trying to get a new ballpark in the Bay Area fizzled and that they intended to look into the Las Vegas market.

The A’s looked at more than a dozen sites around the Las Vegas Valley over a couple of years, eventually leading them to the Tropicana site, announced in May 2023.

In June 2023, during a special session of the Nevada Legislature, up to $380 million on public funding was approved for the project. Then, in November 2023, MLB owners unanimously approved of the A’s plans to relocate to Las Vegas.

The A’s $1.75 billion ballpark will be paid for with a mix of public and private funding and debt. The Fisher family is responsible for $1.4 billion of the project’s cost.

A portion of that will be paid for by taking on a $300 million construction loan from U.S. Bank and Goldman Sachs. The remaining $1.1 billion would be paid for with Fisher family equity.

An active process is underway to raise over $500 million by bringing in investors to the project in exchange for a minority stake in the team. Any funding raised via that process would reduce the Fisher family’s equity contribution to the construction of their Las Vegas ballpark.

“We’ve got a number of people who have committed so far, and we’re continuing to raise capital; but like I said, this will probably help, because people all want to see is this real,” Fisher said. “I think when you’ve got machines behind us, you’ve got a site that has the hotel down and replaced by the holes we have (dug around the site). … So, as the structure comes up, I think people are going to be able to look at it and say, ‘Wow.’ So, I think we’re in a really good place.”

The final portion of the stadium’s funding will come from the team using $350 million of the $380 million earmarked for the project, in 2023 by Senate Bill 1.

Fisher is also looking to sell his Major League Soccer franchise, the San Jose Earthquakes, that he’s owned since 2008. But he said that move is more geared toward allowing him to fully focus on Las Vegas, while allowing a new ownership group to give the Earthquakes the full attention they deserve.

“This is such a monumental task that we’re building with our stadium here, that it was important to me — I bought a house in Vegas — I’m planning on spending a lot of time here, and it was important to me that I’d be able to give 100 percent of my effort toward the A’s,” Fisher said.

Stadium details

The 945,000-square-foot, eight-level facility will feature 30,000 fixed seats and areas to host 3,000 standing room ticket holders. Looking to adhere to the luxury experience many expect when attending games and events in Las Vegas, the A’s plan for 81 suites, including field level options, and six club spaces in the stadium.

Plans call for 23 public concession stands, 18 public bars and six retail spaces in the ballpark.

Work on the stadium is being led by joint venture contractor Mortenson-McCarthy. The project is expected to take 32 months and be complete for Opening Day in 2028.

When that day occurs in three years, Las Vegas Stadium Authority Chairman Steve Hill said he believes it will continue the legacy of the site that once was home to the Rat Pack-era Tropicana.

“This has been a place that has welcomed dreamers and entrepreneurs and made people stars,” Hill said. “We are going to do that again on this site. This is an iconic location. This is going to be an epic ballpark, and there is going to be no better place in the United States to watch Major League Baseball.”

Arizona mule deer can stand within 10 to 20 minutes after being born and double their weight in two weeks — that’s some rapid growth! While the Phoenix East Valley (Phoenix) technology ecosystem hasn’t matured in a matter of weeks, its expansion and evolution has been no less impressive. It’s clear that the region has and continues to put forth tremendous effort to attract national and global companies and entrepreneurial ventures in a wide range of tech-based markets.

PHX East Valley technology ecosystem is born

Mule deer fawns are born of mothers, and the Phoenix East Valley tech ecosystem can point its origin story to early parent companies like Intel, which found its home in Chandler in the 1980s (and continues to expand). The company has designated two new Ocotillo Campus chip factories — Fab 52 and Fab 62 — to bolster U.S. semiconductor production.

In the 2000s, tech giants Apple and Google joined the ranks of Phoenix East Valley tech companies. Together, these heavy hitters (and others) positioned the region as a competitive technology hub, investing billions of dollars into the local economy and attracting companies of all sizes and specialities.

Semiconductor makes its mark

The forebears of technology economic development ultimately paved the way for what has now become a flourishing semiconductor hotspot in the East Valley. The 2020 news of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company’s (TSMC) arrival to Greater Phoenix only increased the growth of this critical sector. The $65 billion investment will generate “6,000 direct manufacturing jobs, more than 20,000 accumulated unique construction jobs, and tens of thousands of indirect jobs,” according to the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Following TSMC, the semiconductor domino effect was in full swing for the PHX East Valley.

“Chandler has long been a semiconductor hub. With this investment, it’s really reinforcing Chandler’s global leadership position as an advanced manufacturing center,” says Micah Miranda, economic development director of City of Chandler. “Companies in the advanced manufacturing space are entering our market to serve Intel, TSMC and our other semiconductor companies such as Microchip and NXP.”

Mesa, too, has experienced an uptick of semiconductor growth, with the example of the South Korean semiconductor company KoMiCo to its portfolio in 2023.

“We just announced Magna,” says Jaye O’Donnell, economic development director for the City of Mesa, “and Infineon is a little known company in Mesa; they manufacture semiconductors and wafers.”

Semiconductor supply chain set

The submarket feeding semiconductor maturation has been a bonus addition to the East Valley tech landscape and its growth.

Cognite, a Norwegian industrial software company, identified the value proposition attached to the rapidly scaling semiconductor sector.

“Semiconductor design and manufacturing are essential elements of the AI value chain,” says Jeff Coulter, CFO of Cognite. “Working up front on how these come together with the silicon logic, data modeling software and driving value at the end customer can help create next generation hardware and software infrastructure.”

O’Donnell adds, “[In Mesa] we have Advanced Metals, FUJIFILM, Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company and Benchmark Electronics. So we’re really starting to build out the semiconductor supply chain industries.”

Healthtech, biotech make their mark

Semiconductor growth, as significant as it has been, does not represent the entirety of the Phoenix East Valley tech ecosystem. Cognite, mentioned earlier, set to occupy 30,000 square feet of leased space at Tempe’s Hayden Ferry Lakeside III, is a prime example of a tech company that recognized the value of the East Valley’s diverse tech sector.

“Arizona’s growing tech ecosystem is the perfect location for Cognite,” Coulter says. “Cognite’s solutions make it possible for the largest industrial companies, with their diverse and expansive data sources, to contextualize their data to make AI possible, driving uptime, productivity and efficiencies across their enterprise.”

Industrial and advanced manufacturing play a pivotal role in attracting and supporting tech organizations.

“The town is already leveraging the momentum that LG Energy Solution has created by selecting Queen Creek for its new manufacturing facility,” says Doreen Cott, economic development director of the Town of Queen Creek.

Cott explains that Queen Creek has been highlighting the community’s investment in infrastructure that will benefit LG and the state at large, marketing the available workforce within a 45-minute commute (1.9 million people), and has been working with several supply chain projects that are part of the electric vehicle ecosystem.

“We’re promoting that there is a place in Queen Creek for a wide variety of technology businesses, depending on their needs, since we have brand new existing industrial space, small zoned-sites and mega sites,” she says.

Rise in healthtech

In Chandler, there has been a rise in healthtech — both manufacturing and in the technology required to support clinical trials.

“Wedgewood Pharmaceutical is a new pharmaceutical manufacturing facility —primarily within the animal science space — that will be coming online here in the next couple of years,” Miranda explains. “And that’s going to be out in the Airpark employment corridor.”

Additionally, Arizona Liver Health, in collaboration with Arizona Clinical Trials, has established the ACT Medical Park in Chandler. The state-of-the-art facility focuses on liver health and conducts clinical trials to advance medical research. Miranda explains how this project in particular contributes to the broader tech ecosystem by fostering innovation in medical research and healthcare delivery.

Mesa is also in the midst of a rise in healthtech and biotech. “We have Dexcom [a leader in continuous glucose monitoring technology],” O’Donnell says. “They brought their manufacturing over from San Diego in 2017, and they have since expanded.”

O’Donnell notes that other arrivals include Nucleus RadioPharma, a biotechnology company specializing in the development and manufacturing of radiopharmaceuticals; OptumRX, a pharmacy care services provider that opened a state-of-the-art home delivery pharmacy and Merz Aesthetics, a global aesthetics company, focusing on research and development in the field of aesthetic medicine.

The Town Gilbert continues to be a growing hub for biotechnology, life sciences, and healthcare, adding to an existing robust base in information and communications technology (ICT), aerospace and aviation and clean technology.

“[Biotechnology, life sciences and healthcare] growth over the last five years in Gilbert (49%) was almost double that of the state and is projected to grow by another 16% in the next five years,” says Dan Henderson, director of economic development of the Town of Gilbert. “There are over 2.2 million square feet of hospital and clinical research facilities, including Banner M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, the Ironwood Cancer Research Center, Mercy Gilbert Medical Center and Banner Gateway Medical Center.”

Gilbert has contributed more than 650,000 square feet of medical and healthcare development to the Phoenix East Valley within the last two years.

Nature and nurture

The mule deer in the Sonoran Desert have all they need — from mesquite leaves to prickly pear pads — to thrive in their environment. The same can be said for the technology ventures that make Phoenix their home. Within this region, companies benefit from a robust workforce fed in large part by the local K-12 and post-secondary education systems.

“Our team consistently hears from tech and other businesses that they selected Tempe for its location, access to an educated and available workforce, and the presence of Arizona State University (ASU),” says April Kroner, deputy economic development director for the City of Tempe.

In March of 2023, ASU’s Fulton School expanded to the ASU West Valley campus with the School of Integrated Engineering, bringing the number of Fulton Schools to eight, and by Fall 2023, exceeding enrollment to 31,000 students.

“Our Tempe location is ideal for taking advantage of local universities that have extensive programs aligned with Cognite’s technical areas of AI, large data models and machine learning,” Coulter says.

Many East Valley cities make concerted efforts to match the tech ecosystem with continuity of education, starting early. Cott explains that Queen Creek accomplishes this by working with the K-12 educational systems, career and technical education (CTE) programs and evolving key relationships with Chandler-Gilbert Community College (CGCC) and Central Arizona College (CAC).

“Gaining knowledge about the certification programs that are available to provide local residents the skills needed in key tech jobs in a condensed time frame is critical for companies needing to hire skilled employees,” Cott says.

In Gilbert, Park University, University of Arizona College of Nursing, ASU’s Polytechnic Campus and CGCC are not only bolstering Gilbert’s talent pipeline, they are fueling emerging technologies from educational institutions, strengthening STEM occupations and placing a strong focus on innovation and tech industries — all of which help lay the foundation for the community’s and greater East Valley region’s future.

And of the graduates of post-secondary institutions, Miranda adds, “They’re cranking out students who most importantly can critically think regardless of degree specialty. And that’s something all organizations need.”

United front

In addition to a skilled talent pool and educational foundation, the other essential component to perpetuating a healthy tech ecosystem is regional collaboration.

“I think we’re very collaborative and I think a lot of that stems from wanting to work together,” O’Donnell says, “because I learned from other economic developers in other communities and what someone does in Chandler or Scottsdale, we know it’s going to affect us too.”

Kroner concludes, “With the other major tech companies in the East Valley, we will continue to work with our regional and state partners such as the PHX East Valley Partnership, Greater Phoenix Economic Council and Arizona Commerce Authority to make sure we continue to offer a favorable and supportive business climate to retain the significant companies here, and to attract other businesses in the supply chain that are advantageous to bring into our ecosystem.”

台積電亞利桑那州第1座先進晶圓廠已經大量生產,第2座晶圓廠的建設也已經完成,第3座晶圓廠最近動土建造。

鳳凰城天港國際機場今天發布新聞稿表示,鳳凰城市長蓋雷哥(Kate Gallego)今天宣布,星宇航空計劃開通鳳凰城天港國際機場和台北桃園機場之間的直飛航班,該服務正在等待政府的最終批准,預計將於明年初開始運營,每週有3至4次航班,這也是鳳凰城和亞利桑那州首個直飛亞洲的航班。

星宇航空今天上午證實此消息,並回應星宇航空台灣桃園-美國鳳凰城航線目標於2026年2月開航,目前航班細節尚待主管機關核准。

Alphabet Inc.旗下自駕車部門Waymo週一(5月5日)指出,Waymo One目前每週在鳳凰城、舊金山、洛杉磯和奧斯汀提供超過25萬次的付費載客服務,2026年預計將把全自動駕駛叫車服務帶到亞特蘭大、邁阿密和華盛頓特區。

為了擴大Waymo One規模,Waymo正與麥格納(Magna)合作、在鳳凰城都會區興建一座新的自駕車工廠。

這座Waymo Driver整合工廠將生產數千輛美國設計和組裝、配備全自動駕駛技術的Jaguar I-PACE。這座佔地23.9萬平方英尺的工廠耗資數百萬美元、已在亞利桑那州Mesa創造數百份就業機會。

Waymo One目前在舊金山、洛杉磯、鳳凰城和奧斯汀擁有超過1,500輛汽車,今年稍早收到來自捷豹(Jaguar)的最後一批交車,明年底前將為旗下車隊生產超過2,000輛全自動駕駛I-PACE車輛。

這座工廠的彈性設計讓Waymo可以從今年的極氪RT(Zeekr RT)開始、在新車平台上整合第六代Waymo Driver。隨著工廠逐步導入自動化裝配線,一旦全面運作、每年將可生產數萬輛全自動駕駛Waymo車款。

Waymo提到,分配給鳳凰城車隊的車輛能夠自行駛出新廠、直接投入服務,這些車輛在離廠後30分鐘內即可載送第一批乘客。

Waymo 4月宣布已和豐田汽車公司(Toyota Motor Corporation)達成初步協議,雙方將尋求在加速自主駕駛技術開發與部署方面進行合作。豐田與Waymo打算結合各自的優勢、共同開發一個全新的自主駕駛汽車平台。

美國鳳凰城不只有台積電新廠,這幾年也積極吸引不同科技產業進駐。開放包括無人機以及無人車的測試,也讓鳳凰城成為無人科技的重鎮。再加上高等教育人才的加持,成為不少新創產業落腳的首選。

包裹從天而降,喊了好久的無人機送貨,終於在美國鳳凰城的近郊展開測試。

亞馬遜空中貨運總經理 卡彭:「我們不將這看作是測試,這是一次與亞馬遜配送中心的整合,之後我們會從這裡開始大規模拓展。」

只要在家下單,支付九塊九美金的運費,一小時之後科幻的場面就會上演。

亞馬遜空中貨運總經理 卡彭:「那些箱子內部有我們稱為彈簧床的減震機制,當它從無人機上掉落時會進行減震,從你點選購物開始,到挑選包裹並包裝完成,只需要15分鐘。」

亞馬遜還在當地成立無人機送貨中心,每天能運送數百份貨物,未來目標是一年要利用無人機運送五億個貨物。

鳳凰城不只開放無人機測試,對無人車的試驗也是伸開雙臂。美國主要的無人車企業,都在當地進行測試。

管理諮詢公司全球技術部門主管 霍克:「像是鳳凰城的基礎設施,棋盤狀的街道環境,非常適合無人車測試,這裡的天氣也適合試驗,成為測試這些自駕車的理想地點。」

早在2017年谷歌就看上鳳凰城展開無人駕駛的試驗,透過法規吸引無人駕駛企業進駐。

管理諮詢公司全球技術部門主管 霍克:「如果回到2015年,當時這項技術還處於萌芽正在發展時,州長杜西頒布了許多行政命令,大大降低了障礙 允許公司在公路上測試。」

鳳凰城經濟發展總監 瑪凱:「我們是全球第一個,可以讓人們完全以自駕車接送的機場。」

美國內陸城市會這樣受到這麼多科技產業青睞絕非偶然,不少國防企業、包括阿帕契直升機都在鳳凰城誕生。

管理諮詢公司全球技術部門主管 霍克:「如果我們觀察那些成為重要科技樞紐的城市,通常會看到四個主要特點,而鳳凰城完全具備這些條件,首先是有利的商業環境,其次是完整的企業生態系統,再來是靠近擁有強大工程專業的大學,最後是有大量的人才可以利用。」

因應大量科技人才需求,當地高等學校也培養大量工程師。

鳳凰城經濟發展總監 瑪凱:「亞利桑那州立大學目前有,三萬工程專業的學生在校就讀。」

亞利桑那州立大學校長 克勞:「今年將有7,500名或更多的工程師畢業,是全美培養最多工程師的學校。」

從2018到2023年之間,鳳凰城的科技人才就增加超過17%。

鳳凰城經濟發展總監 瑪凱:「過去十年中,鳳凰城市中心有67家科技公司,如今已有超過400家,我認為未來五年,鳳凰城的發展將遠超過過去20年,從2014年平均年薪30,000美元起步,到2023年底已達到84,000美元。」

經過幾十年的耕耘,鳳凰城成為不少新創企業的首選,不讓加州、德州專美於前,鳳凰城憑藉各方位的優勢,成為美國科技重鎮。

美國川普總統在上任百日這天(29日)的演說中,再提台積電赴美的巨額投資,美國商務部長盧特尼克(Howard Lutnick)則前往位於亞利桑那州鳳凰城的台積電參觀,突顯台積電的重要性。蘋果執行長庫克(Tim Cook)、輝達執行長黃仁勳,超微(AMD)執行長蘇姿丰也都表達支持台積電在美擴廠。

美國商務部29日發新聞稿指出,盧特尼克前往亞利桑那州鳳凰城的台積電,參觀已動工的第3座晶圓廠。此次參訪凸顯川普政府對加強與擴展美國製造業黃金時代的再度承諾。聲明指出,透過「投資加速計畫」,美國人民已見證了巨大的進展。台積電在亞利桑那州第3座晶圓廠就是其中一例。該擴建案將生產先進晶片,以推動美國的人工智慧(AI)、資料中心與智慧型手機發展。台積電額外投資的1000億美元,預計在未來4年創造4萬個建築工作機會,數萬個高薪高科技職位,並在接下來10年間為亞利桑那州帶來超過2000億美元的間接產值。

但是川普政府說服了台積電(TSMC)再投資1000億美元。所以會有3座新廠,另外還有兩座是先進封裝廠。

盧特尼克說未來4年要建設這些設施,就會僱用4萬名建築工人,整體建設金額達1650億美元。他說:「你知道川普政府為這個付了多少錢嗎?零。這是透過關稅帶來的成果。所以有4萬名建築工人,然後還會有2萬名全職員工,長期留在這裡,因為我們要把半導體製造帶回美國。這正是川普關稅政策的核心——把先進製造業帶回美國。」

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. has begun construction on a third chip plant in Arizona, ramping up its US expansion as the Trump administration threatens further tariffs to spur American manufacturing.

The world’s most advanced chipmaker announced the third phase of its US expansion the same day Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick toured TSMC’s site, which the company called the single largest foreign investment in US history.

TSMC, the main chipmaker to Apple Inc. and Nvidia Corp., is the centerpiece of the US government’s effort to entice manufacturing back home. Lutnick has signaled he could withhold promised Chips Act grants as he pushes companies in line for federal semiconductor subsidies to substantially expand their US projects, Bloomberg News has reported.

In March, TSMC Chief Executive Officer C.C. Wei joined Trump at the White House to unveil plans to invest an additional $100 billion in US plants that will boost its output on American soil. The spending adds to $65 billion in planned TSMC investments in the US and would eventually bring its American presence to a half-dozen plants for advanced wafer fabrication and a couple more for advanced packaging.

Lutnick told CNBC in an interview on Tuesday the Trump administration was able to get the additional $100 billion investment without any promise of subsidies. “You know what the Trump administration paid for that? Zero. It’s tariffs that brought that in. So 40,000 of construction employees, and then 20,000 full-time employees, here for the far-distant future as we bring semiconductors here. This is the point of the Trump tariff model,” he said.

TSMC’s CEO said on an earnings call in April that the construction of the second plant in Arizona was already completed and the company was working on speeding up the production schedule. The company previously said that the first factory entered high-volume production in the fourth quarter of last year with yields comparable to Taiwan factories.

Wei added that the third and fourth plants will use its most advanced N2 and A16 process technologies and the fifth and sixth plants will use even more advanced technologies.

晶圓代工龍頭台積電(2330)今日舉行法說會,針對美國千億美元投資案,台積電董事長魏哲家表示,未來預計有三成2奈米以下的產能都將在亞利桑那州廠還生產,來支持美國領先客戶的需求。

魏哲家也說,美國亞利桑那州第一座廠已經在去年第四季開始量產,第二個3奈米廠已經建造完成,第三和第四廠未來將生產2奈米製程和A16製程,預計今年稍晚動土,等美國投資完成後,約30%的2奈米及以下產能將位於亞利桑那州,這樣將在在美國成立一個獨立的製造業聚落。

針對今年展望,儘管充滿不確定性的關稅因素干擾,魏哲家還是指出,今年對台積電來說,還會是強勁成長的一年,全年營收以美元計算,預計成長接近中段二十位數(mid-twenties;24~26%)百分比,也還是持續觀察到來自客戶的強勁AI相關需求,預計2025年AI相關營收將倍增。

(中央社記者吳家豪台北14日電)人工智慧(AI)晶片大廠輝達(NVIDIA)14日宣布,與台積電、鴻海、緯創、艾克爾(Amkor)、日月光投控旗下矽品等製造夥伴合作,首度在美國設廠生產AI超級電腦,預計未來4年將在美國生產價值高達5000億美元(約新台幣16.2兆元)的AI基礎設施。

輝達在官方部落格發文說明,Blackwell晶片已開始在台積電亞利桑那州鳳凰城的工廠生產。輝達正在德州興建超級電腦工廠,並與鴻海、緯創合作,分別在休士頓、達拉斯建造超級電腦工廠,預計未來12到15個月進入量產。

由於AI晶片與超級電腦供應鏈相當複雜,需要最先進的製造、封裝、組裝及測試技術,輝達正與艾克爾及矽品在亞利桑那州合作後段封測。

輝達執行長黃仁勳表示,全球AI基礎設施的引擎正首度在美國打造,增加美國製造的能力,讓輝達可以更好滿足AI晶片與超級電腦驚人且持續成長的需求,並強化供應鏈與提升韌性。

搬離加州「犯罪之城」奧克蘭運動家隊,今天宣布位於賭城的新建主場將於6月動土,球場外觀電腦繪圖今日一併公布,預計耗資17.5億美元興建,屆時可容納3.3萬觀眾,2028年正式啟用。

運動家去年球季結束後,正式搬離奧克蘭,接下來3個球季,將利用3A球場舉辦例行賽,新建的球場採用3/4屋頂包覆設計,外野區僅部分處於開闊空間,運動家成為拉斯維加斯第4支職業運動球隊,其中包括NFL(National Football League,美國國家美式足球聯盟)突襲者隊、NHL(National Hockey League,北美國家冰上曲棍球聯盟)的黃金騎士隊與WNBA的王牌隊。

由於職業隊伍相繼進駐,使得賭城未來將呈現新的運動風貌,運動加總裁巴丹(Marc Badain)說:「賭城曾經是世界娛樂之都。現在,大家都稱它為世界體育和娛樂之都。」

市場昨(6)日瘋傳川普政府開啟關稅「人道走廊」,釋出豁免條款關鍵條文「9903.01.34」,銷美產品美國價值占20%以上,美國價值部份免稅,惟深究美方相關條文後,美國價值認定基準仍是「美國製造」,並非美系廠商供貨即可獲關稅豁免,台積電(2330)美國新廠更將扮演「救世主」。

市場原期盼美方「9903.01.34」豁免條款為電子業點亮關稅戰陰影下的一盞明燈,惟業界分析,若川普真的讓美系廠商供貨就可獲得關稅豁免,不會在宣布對等關稅後四天後才被台灣網民「挖到寶」並大肆流傳,知名外媒早就大舉報導。

根據白宮釋出的關鍵條文「9903.01.34」,要符合「Made in USA(美國製造)」而非「Made by USA(美國血統)」,且整機占比二成以上才能符合美國價值部份豁免關稅。

業界分析,美方確實開出豁免條件,就目前關稅衝擊台灣最嚴重的電子業來看,若要取得美方部份關稅豁免資格,由於處理器、繪圖晶片等高速運算應用晶片只要單一元件就占筆電、伺服器以及蘋果iPhone等終端裝置價值比重超過兩成,從晶片端突圍最快。

唯一的解方即透過台積電美國亞利桑那州州廠供應晶片,即台積電美國廠將是帶領科技巨頭與筆電、伺服器、蘋果鏈降低關稅衝擊要角,扮演「救世主」角色。

台積電正如火如荼加快美國亞利桑那州廠產能布建,上半年月產能可達2萬片,目標年底至少倍增至4萬片。據了解,蘋果仍為台積電美國新廠最大客戶、掌握最多產能,其次為高通,再來才是輝達等其他廠商。

法人看好,台積電美國廠產能將成「拯救全村的希望」,蘋果供應鏈可望率先解決燃眉之急,PC鏈、AI伺服器代工鏈也可望陸續降低部分衝擊。

美國川普政府5日起對全球多國全面加徵10%關稅後,美國海關及邊境保護局(CBP)發布指引表示,若有產品在美國生產含量的金額占比為至少20%,則產於美國部分將豁免10%關稅,至於9日生效、對各國課徵額外對等關稅的報關指引,將另行宣布。CBP指引是要釐清產品報關原則,並公布幾個例外情況,其一為「9903.01.34」條款,若有產品在美國生產含量金額占比至少20%,則產於美國的部分將豁免關稅,但非產自美國的內容物仍須被加徵10%關稅。

業界指出,北美自由貿易協定暫時持續有效,在其框架下的商品範圍包括電腦、筆電、手機、伺服器及AI伺服器,但前提是這些產品必須符合協定的原產地規則,若這些產品完全在北美生產或滿足特定區域價值含量要求,才能免關稅進美國。

美國總統川普2日宣布對台灣課徵32%的對等關稅,對此,漢翔航空工業似乎有神來之筆能力一般,提前兩天(3月31日)就曾發新聞稿表示「川普2.0的關稅政策,更為全球經濟帶來諸多不確定性,對此,漢翔已做出迅速因應」並發表該公司已在美國亞利桑納州購置總面積超過千坪的廠房。

不過,漢翔今天表示,因為美國尚未對航空業的關稅部分有進一步描述,未來發展尚難預測,但公司有相關的因應政策,會在美國設廠就是其中的一環。

據了解,美國波音、GE、Honeywell等都是漢翔的大客戶,為其生產航太相關產品,目前既已有美國廠,未來會爭取更多訂單。

漢翔在先前的新聞稿中也表示,美國廠建廠初期以生產發動機高價值零組件打穩業績基礎,再逐步增加不同品項。尤其,美國落實優先採購美國製造產品的BAA(Buy America Act)法案,對此,漢翔都已迅速因應。

漢翔董事長胡開宏也說,在全球局勢不穩的情況下,漢翔要爭取國際訂單,美國設廠、接單、打造新產線,都是必須策略。目前已踏出重要一步,也樂見國內廠商一同前往,形成產業聚落。

他說,漢翔2016年即在美國成立子公司,美國廠是漢翔的海外生產據點,也是進軍美國市場的重要基石,新廠房幅員廣大,結構規畫妥適,且靠近主要客戶,位置極具戰略意義,能夠打造更加穩定的供應鏈,讓地緣政治的風險降到最低。

另外,胡開宏上個月25日還率公司人員前往馬來西亞,與當地上市公司縱橫集團(Cape EMS Bhd)總裁鄭莉蓁簽署合作意向書,宣布雙方將在儲能、航空、生技醫療三大領域深度合作,共同拓展東南亞市場。美國廠同時也導入縱橫集團的設計與製造技術,展開生技醫療產品的合作。

〔財經頻道/綜合報導〕外界普遍認為台積電位於亞利桑那州的晶圓廠建設成本高昂,需要負擔更高的營運成本,然而,TechInsights的分析師哈奇森(G. Dan Hutcheson)認為,事實並非如此。根據該公司最近的研究,台積電位於亞利桑那州鳳凰城附近的Fab 21工廠的晶圓成本,僅比台灣生產的同類晶圓高出約10%。

TechInsights的G. Dan Hutcheson報導寫道:台積電在亞利桑那州加工300毫米晶圓(12奈米)的成本比在台灣製造的相同晶圓高出不到10%。

哈奇森表示,雖然在美國建造一座晶圓廠的成本肯定比在台灣高,但台積電的成本明顯更高,因為它在一個全新的地點建造了幾十年來第一座海外晶圓廠,而且使用的是新的、有時是非熟練的勞動力。

據其他熟悉晶圓廠建造過程的人士透露,在美國建造一座晶圓廠的成本並不比在台灣建造一座晶圓廠的成本高出一倍。

tomshardware引述報導指出,半導體生產成本的主要因素是設備成本,其占整體晶圓費用的三分之二以上。ASML、應用材料、KLA、Lam Research 或東京電子等領先公司生產的工具在台灣和美國的價格相同;它們有效地消除基於地點的成本差異。

晶圓價格令人困惑的一個主要根源是勞動成本。美國的工資大約是台灣的三倍,許多人錯誤地認為這是晶片生產的一個重要因素。

然而,根據TechInsights的晶圓成本模型,隨著現今晶圓製造設施自動化程度的提高,勞動成本在總成本中所佔比例不到2%。根據該模型,儘管工資和其他本地成本存在很大差異,但亞利桑那州和台灣晶圓廠的營運成本之間的總體費用差距很小。

台積電赴美設廠後,週邊供應商也紛紛前往亞利桑那州,當地台灣人越來越多,甚至還出現台式熱炒店,已經成為許多派駐海外員工想念家鄉味時,最常去的聚會地點。老闆張文權說,就是要讓客人一踏進店裡,彷彿一秒回到台灣。

餐廳店員:「幫你們上一下乾煎白帶魚。」剛煎出來的鹹香白帶魚上桌,鹹酥魷魚、酸菜豬血,還有一瓶瓶的蘋果西打,滿滿一桌台式風味。牆上貼著手寫菜單,炸臭豆腐、台灣烏魚子全都有,一看就是台灣熱炒店啊!但其實這是一家位在美國鳳凰城的台式餐廳。台式熱炒店老闆張文權vs.客人:「來來來一起吃,來啊一起啊。」客人一進門,立刻上前熱情招呼,老闆張文權來自台灣苗栗,原本在新墨西哥州開餐廳,會來到亞利桑那州,就是看好台積電美國廠,加上週邊供應商都跟著來,台灣人越來越多。

台式熱炒店老闆張文權:「因為有台積電,所以我們就好,70%是台積電員工,另外30%是這邊在地的,有很誇張的,(客人)4天來5次,因為他中午吃完之後回去,晚上又有另外一群朋友約他過來。」週六晚上,餐廳生意好得不得了,張老闆在廚房忙得不可開交,一人兼顧兩個炒鍋。為了端出家鄉味,店內的客家梅乾菜、羊肉爐湯包等材料,都是請台灣家人寄到美國。熱炒店台味十足,老闆還特地準備了卡啦ok。這一桌桌都是台積電供應商的員工,趁著週末晚上聚會,畢竟隨著台積電在美國廠建廠進度不斷推進,業務越來越多,這裡就是最好的放鬆地點。

台廠供應商員工:「忙當然是忙啊,但是就是不同階段的事情,有不同階段的事情要忙,附近有很多台商包含日商都有,我們都有設立辦公室。」台廠供應鏈員工:「當然開心啊,因為畢竟吃的文化還是有差,所以還是習慣台灣的味道。」台式熱炒店老闆張文權:「這裡就是一個歡樂的場所,我嘗試著跟他們交朋友,讓他們覺得可以在這邊,有一個家的感覺,在這門口之外是美國,進來以後,你就會覺得你回到台灣,會在這個廣場,有幾個一起合作的,想要把它打造成一個台灣城。」熱炒店的成功,也讓張老闆有信心再開第二家店,要以台式牛排進軍當地市場,讓這個沙漠之城有越來越多台灣味。

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Warner Bros. Discovery is joining Sony Pictures Entertainment and Howard Hughes Holdings to develop a 31-acre film hub in Las Vegas, the companies announced Wednesday morning.

The project, dubbed Summerlin Studios, would be a 31-acre production facility that would include “multiple stages and related buildings, capabilities and infrastructure.” It would be constructed within a planned 100-acre mixed-use development area. The facility is expected to be constructed near Town Center Drive and Flamingo Road on a parcel of land owned by Howard Hughes Holdings.

The project hinges on Assembly Bill 238 being approved by the Nevada Legislature. The Nevada Studio Infrastructure Jobs and Workforce Training Act would provide $80 million in film tax credits from 2028 to 2043 and require at least $400 million to be invested in Nevada.

The bill is sponsored by Assembly Majority Leader Sandra Jauregui, who set high expectations for the project.

“The investments Warner Bros. Discovery, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Howard Hughes expect to make, in terms of infrastructure, education and workforce development, could create nearly 18,000 jobs and produce a whole new industry in Nevada,” Jauregui said in a news release.

The proposed tax credits are contingent on a $400 million capital investment and the completion of Summerlin Studios before those tax credits are earned. Assembly Bill 238 is expected to be amended to reflect details of the Summerlin Studios project ahead of its Thursday hearing. Additionally, to receive the tax credit, 50 percent of a film’s shoot would be required to take place in Nevada, and the production would need to be completed within 18 months of the first day of principal photography.

Warner Bros. Discovery was previously part of a separate bill in the 2023 legislative session, a proposal to construct a film studio at UNLV Harry Reid Research & Technology Park sponsored by Democratic State Sen. Roberta Lange. Lange later said the legislation was not part of the Warner Bros. Discovery’s vision. It’s unclear what parts of this bill, including educational aspects of the legislation, will be added to the Assembly Bill.

Warner Bros. claimed three of the top 25 box office hits of 2024, including Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Dune: Part Two, and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. That trio of films earned a reported $772 million at the box office. At the same time, the Sony-distributed Bad Boys: Ride or Die, It Ends With Us, Venom: The Last Dance, and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire all cracked the top 25, reportedly taking in nearly $600 million.

The companies claim that the Summerlin Studios project will create tens of thousands of new jobs with an annual economic impact of more than $3 billion. AB238 is scheduled for a hearing on Thursday in the Assembly Revenue Committee.

知名半導體分析師陸行之指出,台積電這動作,應該算是買到4年的免死金牌,「加上之前的650億美元還沒花的,每年至少投資超過300億美元在美國廠」。

陸行之說,既然選了擴大建廠的免死金牌選項,他認為應該不用再被強迫投資或技術轉移英特爾了。

「再來美國廠資本支出應該會超過台灣廠,我們應該考慮去亞利桑那州投資房地產,以後肯定出現一個美國版台灣科學園區」。

1、選擇花了1000億美元擴大建廠的免死金牌選項,應該就不用選被強迫投資、技術轉移英特爾了吧?在美國廠大量出貨前,台灣出口到美國的晶片,應該就不會被課重稅了吧?還是你們覺得是一碼歸一碼,一個一個來?

2、全球高階半導體漲價趨勢確立,如果客戶轉嫁成本,以後電子,AI算力產品會越來越貴,半導體庫存變黃金的概念。

長期毛利率可能無法維持在之前目標的53%以上

3、分析師可能要重新算一下未來四年台積電的資本開支,我們認為明/後年的年度資本支出超過500億美元可期待,可以關注一下全球設備大廠,CoWoS產能,研發部門到美國也躲不掉,勢在必行。

4、分析師們可能要重新算一下未來四年台積電的折舊費用,研發,管理費用對毛利率及營業利潤率的影響,如果計劃順利執行,加碼量產的數年之後,長期毛利率應該無法維持在之前目標的53%以上,當然計劃100%進行的可能性很低。

5、如果台積電都躲不掉,我們相信川普也會重稅歐洲,韓國,日本半導體大廠不來美國投資,如果不來美國,應該也會加碼使用台積電美國廠的晶圓代工製造來避稅。

6、如果美國消費者需要的晶片都盡量在美國製造封裝,蘋果、三星手機,電腦,伺服器,車子的組裝廠及相關材料廠也勢必將往美國移動。

不管美國政府4年後是否換人,美國製造趨勢很難逆轉

7、1000億美元是現在宣布,但每個計劃都有動態調整的變化,如果美國客戶先進製程需求轉弱,1000億美元投資最後被砍成成500億美元也是有可能的。

8、4年之後怎麼辦?我們覺得4年之後,不管美國政府是否又換人,美國製造趨勢很難逆轉,美國當地的科技電子產品通貨膨脹很難降低,美國人出國全球買透透,走私避稅賺機票錢可能會發生。

Brightline West高鐵項目正穩步推進,施工團隊近日在聖伯納汀諾縣實施鑽探作業(drilling of holes),標誌連接南加與拉斯維加斯的高鐵項目進入基礎建設階段。

施工人員24日在庫卡蒙加牧場市的牧場站(Rancho Station)附近開挖。Brightline West發言人卡斯特蘭(Antonio Castelan)表示,施工人員使用真空設備清理土壤,以露出並識別地下管線,包括天然氣管道、電纜和自來水管線,確保後續建設順利進行。

Brightline West高鐵總投資達120億美元,將建設218英里(約351公里)的高速鐵路,沿途設站在庫卡蒙加牧場、赫斯普里亞 (Hesperia)、蘋果谷 (Apple Valley) 和拉斯維加斯。該路線將與南加的Metrolink鐵路系統相連,預計可將南加至拉斯維加斯的車程縮短至約兩小時,大幅提升交通效率,為往來南加與賭城拉斯維加斯的旅客提供更便捷出行選擇。

美國總統川普3日宣布,台積電預計未來4年在美國投資1000億美元,用於打造美國晶片製造設施;台積電投資美國的總額將達到1650億美元。

川普3日與台積電董事長暨總裁魏哲家見面,並在下午共同於白宮舉行記者會;魏哲家說,台積電已在亞利桑納州(Arizona)投資650億美元,未來將額外投資1000億美元;川普說,他特別騰出時間參與這項宣布,並表示,台灣幾乎壟斷晶片生意,台積電的宣布象徵多元化經營。

魏哲家說,台積電在原來的投資計畫之上,承諾再建造3座半導體製造廠(fab),以及2座封裝廠和1座研發中心。

台積電(2330)飛行萬里在美國舉行董事會,會後雖只公布例行股利分配、分紅、避險部位調整和資本支出預算,但根據調查,台積電董事長暨總裁魏哲家與美國亞利桑那州分公司幹部,特別闢室舉行溝通會議,會中做出三項重大決議。

首先即計畫明年中舉行亞利桑那州第三廠(Fab 21 p)將於今年中正式動工,邀請美國重要官員參加這次動工典禮、以及考慮在美規劃CoWoS封裝廠,這三大重大決議,視為台積電將加速先進製程赴美。

從魏哲家召集這次溝通會議看,台積電面臨美國白宮新政權施壓,已打算調整在美國設廠規畫,在既有提出在亞利桑那州投資三座12吋晶圓廠補貼款後,台積電將正式啟動第三廠建廠行動,以台積電後續增建新廠只要18個月即可量產的時程規畫,第三廠可能提早在2027年初試產、2028年量產,比原提出計畫,提早至少1到1.5年 。

台積電董事並沒有列席這次溝通會議,至於董事在赴美期間應是聽取台積電美國分公司政府關係部門與白宮密集溝通所得戰情分析,並在會中討論,只是這些均未列入董事會會議紀錄,台積電不需要公布。

台積電也訂出第三廠舉行動土典禮,將邀請美國重要官員出席,見證台積電擴大在美國投資的決心,邀請官員的行動將會在這幾個月進行,外界推估時間可能落在今年6月舉行。

針對相關訊息,台積電表示,不予回應,一切以公司公告為主。

台積電供應鏈透露,台積電第二廠已完成主體廠房工程,正進行內部無塵室和機電整合工程,預定明年第1季末開始移入機台,依時間推算,將可在明年底前進行試產,2027年下半年開始量產,比原規畫的2028年提前。

台積電這次赴美的規畫調整,還包括考慮赴美設立CoWoS先進封裝廠,但細部計畫還需進一步討論才會對外公布。稍早台積電將這部分委由封裝大廠艾克爾和日月光進行部署,艾克爾已提出在亞利桑那州建廠計畫;日月光則表示還得仔細評估。

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Construction on the Brightline West high-speed train system connecting Las Vegas with Southern California could begin within the next few months.

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) Board of Directors received an update on financing and scheduling for the train project during a regular meeting Monday.

Eric Scheetz, a senior project manager for NDOT, told the board Brightline West is working to secure all funding for the $12 billion project. Financing has been broken up into nine individual contracts valued at about $1 billion each.


Brightline has already secured a $3 billion federal grant, which would be paid as a reimbursement contingent on minimum spending. The company is also offering $2.5 billion in bonds after selling $1 billion at the end of 2024, Scheetz said. The rest of the money will be raised through private equity and loans.

The company hopes to secure financial commitments within the next few weeks, at which point construction on the 218-mile rail line can begin. Construction will start with heavy civil work, which is expected to last two to three years, followed by laying the track systems, according to Scheetz.

"Do you have any idea, or approximate time, when the first shovel will go in the dirt?" asked Gov. Joe Lombardo, who serves on the board.

"Excellent question, sir. Honestly, my hope is within the next- next month or so, we'll hear answers on them signing those contracts," Scheetz answered. He continued: "I would suggest within the next couple of months would be very good."

Brightline broke ground on the Las Vegas station in April last year. So far, the company has undertaken survey work along the Interstate 15 corridor where the track will run.

The Brightline West train is expected to connect Las Vegas with Rancho Cucamonga, California. Stations would be located along the route in Victor Valley and Hesperia.

It will use 37 trains per day, according to Scheetz, and the trains will be able to reach a maximum speed of 186 miles per hour.

Officials previously said the goal was for the train to begin running in time for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, though Scheetz's update suggests completion could occur at a later date.

美國總統川普(Donald Trump)2.0關稅正式啟動,並揚言最快2月中旬對晶片等產品開徵關稅。學者今天(2日)分析,若美國對台灣半導體課稅,台積電先進製程因無人能取代,有一定的議價能力,可將關稅成本轉嫁給美系客戶,而成熟製程方面,包括台積電、聯電等業者可透過其他國家廠房生產、出貨來降低衝擊。學者認為,在新一波關稅戰驅動下,未來供應鏈將形成短鏈、多鏈且在地化並進的趨勢。

美國正式對加拿大及墨西哥商品加徵25%關稅,其中,對來自加拿大的能源產品稅率為10%,此外,美國也同步對中國商品加徵10%關稅。美國總統川普也透露,未來幾週內將對半導體、鋼鐵、鋁、石油、天然氣加徵關稅。先前川普已點名美國有98%晶片生意跑到台灣,外界預期台灣半導體將難逃關稅臨身。

台經院產經資料庫總監劉佩真2日指出,川普針對半導體課稅預告來得又急又快,可能仍是覬覦台積電先進製程,不過,一旦真的對台灣半導體課稅,以先進製程來說,台積電競爭優勢獨霸全球,對手難以跟上的情況下,仍可將關稅成本轉嫁給美系客戶。她說:『(原音)包括像在3奈米、即將下半年量產的2奈米製程,幾乎全球的一個大單其實也很難轉移到其他競爭對手的身上,主要是在於說Intel(英特爾)跟三星目前先進製程進程還是非常遞延、無法供應,台積電目前即便有受到美國關稅課徵,美系的一些大客戶還是會下單給台積電,那也給予台積電有充分的議價能力,所以他還是可以將關稅成本可以成功的轉嫁。』

成熟製程方面,劉佩真表示,台廠大多都有在海外設廠,像是台積電可透過日本廠、未來的德國廠出貨,聯電可在日本廠出貨,而世界先進可在新加坡廠供貨等,業者算是逐步有在因應。

劉佩真強調,台灣成熟製程業者原先就面臨中國紅色供應鏈競爭,現在又有川普關稅壓力,挑戰越來越大,若考慮赴美國設廠,得先設法因應高昂的生產成本,而若要前往其他國家布局,還得預測川普下一步可能對哪些國家課稅。她認為,未來半導體供應鏈將會邁向短鏈、多鏈且在地化並進的型態,來因應新一波關稅大戰。

中經院院長連賢明先前在臉書發文指出,從川普聲明觀察,美國2月中就會針對半導體產業開始課稅,既然加拿大都遭課稅,台灣也不要想會被排除,他並推測,川普不會只針對半導體產業,應會對台灣所有輸美產品課稅,稅率最少應該在10%以上,雖然現階段川普要如何針對電子零組件產業課稅還不明朗,但應會進入世界級關稅大戰。

連賢明表示,川普關稅對高階製程衝擊應會比較小,但成熟製程就不見得會有那麼強的定價能力,是否造成半導體供應鏈重組,是台灣要面對關稅大戰的重要問題。

MESA, AZ — After breaking ground in 2021, Meta’s Mesa Data Center has officially gone online.

The data center announced Thursday that it is now serving traffic and is connected to global infrastructure and technologies.

At an event Thursday, the business stressed its dedication to playing an active role in the community.

Meta said it will provide financial support for Mesa Community College students to pursue STEM certificates. They also helped create a new multimedia center at Desert Ridge Junior High School in Gilbert, helping students learn about animation, video game design, digital art, and music production.

The company is also focused on becoming “water positive” by 2030 and matching its electricity with “100% clean and renewable energy,” Meta said.

The facility is said to support about 2,000 skilled trade workers at its peak and will “represent an investment of more than $1 billion in the state of Arizona.”

(中央社鳳凰城3日綜合外電報導)台積電在美國亞利桑那州設廠利多效應逐漸浮現,曾實地訪台灣的美國房產開發商將斥資70億美元(約新台幣2307億元)推動圍繞台積電美國廠的綜合開發計畫,完善當地生活機能。

美國媒體12News報導,台積電斥資650億美元在亞利桑那州打造晶圓廠,廠址位在303號環線與17號州際公路交匯處,預計今年開始量產,估可創造8萬個就業機會。

麥克房地產集團(Mack Real Estate Group)執行長麥克(Richard Mack)表示:「坐擁這種型態的靠山,就是可以帶給你在美國其他地方所沒有的綜效。」

麥克房地產集團與麥考特夥伴公司(McCourt Partners)攜手,計劃將圍繞台積電亞利桑那廠周遭超過2300英畝大的沙漠,改造成涵蓋工業、住宅、零售與辦公空間的綜合性開發區。

麥克表示:「這是我們首度在一家製造企業的周圍,打造結合居住與工作的環境。」

投資額70億美元的Halo Vista開發案將落腳鳳凰城(Phoenix)西北方,目前仍在早期設計階段。麥克表示,這個開發案相當重視景觀設計。

Halo Vista可望成為適於步行的都巿環境。麥克說:「我們確實去過台灣,考察台積電目前工廠所在地區,可以說是從當地環境中學習並且思考跟美國的差異。」

台積電每週7天、每天24小時運作。麥克表示,這座「城中城」將滿足這種生活方式,「稍微多一點刺激和活力,不過我們還是希望它能符合鳳凰城和亞利桑那州的生活方式」。

雖然Halo Vista被規劃成圍繞台積電的支持性生態系統,不過開發商期盼它也能吸引非晶片製造業人士。

〔財經頻道/綜合報導〕美國亞利桑那州鳳凰城計畫在台積電美廠附近建造「城中城」(city within a city),耗資70億美元(台幣2282億元)的開發案將位於17號州際公路和303環線的西北角。

「城中城」的正式名稱為Halo Vista(光環美景),佔地2400英畝,在台積電周圍形成光環。鳳凰城經濟發展總監瑪凱(Chris Mackay)表示,該計畫旨在支持台積電的運作以及研究和技術園區。她說:「雖然總面積為2400英畝,但我們可以看到劃分出一些專業領域。也許其中40或50英畝是專注於生物科學」。

台積電計劃在鳳凰城建造3座先進的半導體製造廠,公司650億美元的投資是美國歷史上最大的外國直接投資之一。

2024年5月,麥克房地產集團(Mack Real Estate Group)及其合作夥伴McCourt Partners 在亞利桑那州土地部門拍賣中購買台積電周圍的土地。

麥克房地產集團執行長理查德·麥克(Richard Mack)在宣布該計畫的名稱時表示:「這不僅僅是一個科技園區,也不僅僅是一個製造區:它是一個社區。這是城中之城。這是一個領先、富有創造力和吸引力的社區,周圍都是世界上最領先的公司」。

社區和經濟發展副主任內森·賴特 (Nathan Wright) 表示:「我們每週都會與國家選址者合作,我們收到的一些評論是,嘿,這是美國最好的鏟子準備場地」。

12月,市議會預計將批准一項協議,向開發商償還供水管線和街道等公共基礎設施的費用。

國發會主委、同時也是台積電董事之一的劉鏡清21日在立法院表示,他已接獲明年2月10日赴美參加台積電董事會的通知。這印證了業界的傳言屬實,台積電董事會自成立37年以來,明年第一季將首度移師美國召開,應與美國新總統川普上任及台積電美國廠量產有關,也可讓董事們實地了解新廠的運轉狀況。

台積電已成為全球晶圓代工龍頭,製程技術領先英特爾、三星,且外資持股達7成以上。業界認為,國際性公司將董事會選在國外舉行,讓董事們實地了解新廠的運轉狀況,合情合理,有例可循。

不過,川普將於2025年1月20日重返白宮宣誓就職,台積電美國廠傳明年第一季量產,董事會選在美國舉行,可能有政治考量。就台積電營運而言,目前已非製程技術與客戶變數,最大影響是川普上任後,對於半導體走向美國製造、對中國半導體的制裁,會祭出甚麼政策才是關鍵,有待觀察。

劉鏡清進一步透露,未來三年台積電設廠規畫,除了高雄、台南,接下來台中也會有,並定期與政府溝通用水、用電問題。對於美國商務部拍板補助台積電亞利桑那州廠66億美元,近日傳出台積電A16製程也會移至美國一事,劉鏡清直言,「這不是樂觀其成的問題,而是政治因素」,3奈米技術本來就會前進美國,2奈米還不會過去;至於A16,由於產品部分一般是進到3奈米製程,有可能過去美國。

〔財經頻道/綜合報導〕美國總統當選人川普表示,他將動用軍隊進行大規模驅逐無證移民。對此,《Business Insider》指出,此舉措恐影響美國14個行業,其中4個關鍵產業受創最重,包括建築業、農業和旅館業和製造業,這些行業的無證移工比例特別高。

住宅建築業高層和經濟學家指出,川普的驅逐計畫可能會加劇美國建築業勞動力約50萬名工人的短缺,恐加劇美國房價再攀揚。

川普18日在自家社群回覆貼文證實,上任後將宣布國家緊急狀態,出動美軍大規模驅逐無證移民,並承諾使用「一切必要權力」實施美國史上最大規模的驅逐計畫。

據報導,受川普驅逐無證移工計畫波及的美國14個產業,包括建築業(21.5%)、農林漁牧業(15.7%),旅館、酒店行業以及專業(13.2%)、商業服務行業(11.9%),製造業(10.4%)、交通、共用事業(9.8%),還有公共行政(2.4%)、金融活動(4.8%)、教育衛生(5.2%)、資訊(6.1%)、礦業(7.6%),批發零售業(7.6%),全部行業(9.4%)、其他服務(12.4%)

《Business Insider》指出,美國人口普查局調查涵蓋非法移民等數據,截至2022年建築業的非美國公民工人比例最高、為21.5%,約1138萬人中的 244.6萬人。另一美國移民委員會所預估的數據的更高,非法移民佔23.3%。

至於美國農、林、漁業和狩獵工人約有約15.7%、約35萬9000人不是美國公民。左傾美國進步中心在 2021年的一項分析指出,美國約近30萬名無證工人從事農林漁相關,其中3分之2是從事農作物生產。

川普的驅逐計畫也讓美國部分小企業正在做準備。全國小型企業協會表示,如果H-1B簽證政策變得更加嚴格,未來小企業聘用新員工將面臨挑戰。

Plans are underway for a $7 billion development project billed as a "city within a city" in Phoenix, Arizona.

"Halo Vista," as it is now known, will surround a manufacturing complex developed by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC)—which is already under construction and is being developed by New York-based Mack Real Estate Group in collaboration with McCourt Partners.

"TSMC has elected to spend $65 billion here, and that could go to $120 billion," said Richard Mack, CEO of Mack Real Estate Group, at a launch event, per Arizona Central. "As historic as this is, it's maybe just the beginning."

Mass production at the Taiwanese company's first Arizona plant is reportedly set to begin early in 2025.

"I really hope people understand this is a community we are trying to develop, and not any one thing," Mack said at the event.

"It's not just a science park, and not just a manufacturing district: It's a community. It's a city within a city."

The project will include 2,300 acres with more than 28 million square feet of mixed-use development capacity, with will include up to 8,960 residential units as well as industrial, retail, and office spaces.

"Our vision is for chip designers and engineering students, not just suppliers and manufacturers, to co-locate here, to create a value added ecosystem beyond just what it takes to build chips, and that's how we're going to create more value in the Phoenix economy," Mack said.

A further three plants are also planned for the Phoenix site, which could bring TSMC's total investment in the area to over $120 billion. Tech giant Apple has announced it will buy semiconductors from the fabrication plants.

The plants are anticipated to create 10,000 permanent jobs, and another 80,000 are expected to be created in the surrounding development.

"TSMC's Phoenix semiconductor fabrication campus is a tremendous economic driver with local, national, and global significance," said Mack after an affiliate of the firm won an auction for the development rights.

"TSMC is quite simply one of the most important companies in the world. TSMC produces the chips that allow for exponential innovation and for the continued development of artificial intelligence.

"Together with ASLD and McCourt Partners, we are privileged to help in the building of a new type of city that both supports and leverages the domestic and international digital transformation enabled by TSMC's new semiconductor manufacturing campus."

聯準會降息幾碼,現在已經不是市場關注的焦點,投資人更關心的是美國經濟到底是硬著陸還是軟著陸。經濟數據公布之前,敏銳的觀察家總能從一些日常中看見端倪,如消費經濟維生的美國賭城拉斯維加斯和內華達州勞動力市場是美國經濟的照妖鏡,現在當地經濟表現一切良好,完全沒有衰退跡象。

兩年前利率政策取決於對抗通膨的成效,目前美國通膨率只比聯準會 2% 的目標高出半個百分點左右,現在降息的速度和幅度,在很大程度上取決於聯準會如何評估就業市場面臨的風險。

8 月初略顯疲弱的就業數據就足以讓市場崩盤,反應勞動市場狀況就是經濟前景的主要窗口。尤其是內華達州,約四分之一職位依賴賭場度假村和旅館業單一產業,因此美國經濟惡化時,拉斯維加斯和內華達州勞動力市場裂縫,通常會較早出現並迅速擴大。

疫情期間 2020 年 4 月,內華達州失業率短暫飆升到 31%,是全美峰值失業率的兩倍多,現在內華達州 5.4% 失業率仍然是 50 州最高,但這是內華達州三年來失業率常態,幾乎沒有跡象顯示失業率會再上升,且目前就業機會比疫情前增加約 10%。其實內華達州失業率本來就比平均高,連 17 年超過全美,過去兩年高過全美平均 1.8%。

台積電(2330)位於美國亞利桑那州的第一座晶圓廠,傳出該廠「初期良率」超越了台灣在地製程的晶圓廠,是台積電於美國擴廠計畫後的最新進展,尤其當初台積電在美國設廠時還深受進度延誤及勞資糾紛,如今有了重大突破。

根據彭博報導,一名參與活動的人士指出,台積電美國分公司總裁凱西迪(Rick Cassidy)在周三的網路研討會上告訴聽眾,台積電位於亞利桑那州鳳凰城的晶片廠,晶片良率比台灣同類型的工廠高出4個百分點,由於良率是半導體產業的關鍵指標,與晶片廠的經濟效益有關。

也就是說,這項台積電的進展訊號,可視為美國政府重振本土半導體製造的新成就。台積電是輝達(NVIDIA)及蘋果(Apple)晶片製造合作夥伴,亞利桑那州廠的建設預計獲得66億美元的政府補助及50億美元的貸款,外加25%稅收抵免,據台積電計畫,預計將在亞利桑那州建造3座晶圓廠,但目前資金補貼尚未到位,仍須經過美國政府審查決定。

對此,台積電發言人拒絕評論凱西迪的言論,卻進一步引述台積電董事長魏哲家上周在投資電話會議上的說法。魏哲家說,美國第一座晶圓廠於4月開始採用4奈米製程進行工程晶圓生產,結果非常滿意,良率很高,這對於台積電及客戶來說是個重要的營運里程碑,展示出台積電強大的製造能力和執行力。

編按:台積電與美國封測大廠Amkor的策略性合作,不僅有助於台積電維持技術領先,而且既可滿足美國當地客戶的市場需求,又能降低未來遭美方施以反壟斷的風險。此外,也有助於實現美國政府希望建立本土一條龍製造的目標。

2024年第四季,台積電與美國封測大廠Amkor宣布簽署合作備忘錄,在美國亞利桑那州擴大先進封裝測試服務合作。

此合作案,除了是因為日月光投控尚未到美國進行設廠投資外,主要是台積電借力使力,一方面,是讓美國先進製程下單客戶一站式服務臻於完善;另一方面,也可將美國廠的訂單,由手機的應用處理器延伸至AI晶片。台積電這麼做,更是進一步對美方釋出善意,中長期防範美國對台積電採取反壟斷的措施。

也就是說,此次台積電攜手Amkor,擴張美國先進封裝的動作,可從台積電與Amkor合作,強化美國半導體供應鏈完整性,美國政府政策支持,推動本土先進封裝產業發展,以及台積電戰略性布局,應對全球競爭格局變化等層面來觀察。

台積電深化美國製造戰略的關鍵策略

首先,台積電與Amkor戰略性的合作,將可進一步讓美國本土的半導體供應鏈更臻完善,特別是在先進製程晶片的封裝測試環節。畢竟Amkor投資20億美元將在亞利桑那州皮奧里亞市興建新廠,為台積電在鳳凰城晶圓製造廠生產的晶片,提供一站式先進封裝與測試服務;同時,雙方將合作開發包括整合型扇出(InFO)及CoWoS等先進封裝技術,以滿足共同客戶的需求。

事實上,對台積電來說,將是深化美國製造戰略的關鍵策略。這不但有助於台積電提升其在美國市場的競爭力和客戶服務能力,也可滿足美國政府推動「美國製造」的期待。當然,也能藉由先進封裝提升台積電在美國廠區的附加價值,穩定接單,並提高產能利用率。

The Federal Railroad Administration signed an agreement that sends $3 billion to the Nevada Department of Transportation for Brightline West’s planned high-speed rail project from Las Vegas to Southern California.

Brightline CEO Michael Reininger in a press release called the signing a “historic commitment that will jumpstart the high-speed rail industry in America, creating thousands of jobs all across the country.”

Once completed, Brightline West will be the first high-speed rail project in the nation, as passenger trains travel over 200 mph between Las Vegas and Rancho Cucamonga, the company stated.

The 218-mile route by all-electric rail trains will travel in the middle of Interstate 15 with stops at stations located in Las Vegas, Apple Valley, Hesperia, and Rancho Cucamonga where it would connect to an existing Metrolink line to Los Angeles.

“Brightline West will be American made and American built and will serve as the blueprint for connecting city pairs that are too close to fly but too far to drive,” Reininger said.

The grant signing comes after the December 2023 announcement of Brightline West being awarded $3 billion in funding from President Joe Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill. The rest of the project will be privately funded and has received a total allocation of $3.5 billion in private activity bonds from USDOT.

In May 2024, Brightline announced that Siemens Mobility had been designated the “preferred bidder” to build train sets for the Brightline West high-speed rail project.

The contract with Siemens will include a fleet of 10 “American Pioneer 220” train sets to be manufactured, delivered to Nevada and tested to support Brightline West’s timeline of initiating service in 2028, company officials said.

Privately led infrastructure project

Brightline West's rail route, which has full environmental clearance, will run within the median of Interstate 15 with zero-grade crossings.

The privately led infrastructure project is one of the largest in the nation and will be constructed and operated by union labor.

It will use 700,000 concrete rail ties, 2.2 million tons of ballast, and 63,000 tons of 100% American steel rail during construction. Upon completion, it will include 322 miles of overhead lines to power the trains and will include 3.4 million square feet of retaining walls.

The project covers more than 160 structures including stations, viaducts, bridges and wildlife crossings.

The nearly $12 billion rail project is expected to create over 35,000 jobs, including more than 10,000 union construction positions. Nearly 1,000 jobs are expected to be created once the rail line is in service, Brightline officials said.

Brightline aims to open for 2028 Summer Olympics

In 2023, Brightline West officials signed labor agreements with the High Speed Rail Labor Coalition and California and Southern Nevada Building Trades, representing employees who will work in the construction, maintenance, and daily operations.

In April 2024, Brightline West officials and guests were in Las Vegas as part of the high-speed rail project groundbreaking celebration. No groundbreaking has occurred in Southern California.

A Brightline spokesperson said construction on the high-speed rail project is expected in early 2025, a FOX News affiliate reported last week.

Brightline West plans to begin operations in 2028, in time for the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, scheduled to begin in mid-July of that year.

In line with last year’s trend, Phoenix has solidified its position as the leading market for industrial development in the country. The region’s growth is propelled by high-tech sectors, including semiconductor manufacturing and data centers, which are infusing the area with advanced technology and innovation.

This surge in development not only boosts the local economy but also enhances Phoenix’s appeal as a hub for cutting-edge industries. Additionally, the city’s strategic location and robust infrastructure further contribute to its appeal for industrial investment.

A total of 375.7 million square feet of industrial space was under construction across the nation as of June—representing 1.9 percent of stock—according to a recent CommercialEdge report. Phoenix’s development pipeline was the largest in the nation.

In June, Phoenix’s under-construction pipeline stood at almost 39 million square feet across 125 properties, accounting for 9.3 percent of the total stock, surpassing by far the national average of 1.9 percent.

In the first six months of the year, almost 10 million square feet of industrial space broke ground in the metro in 51 properties, representing 2.5 percent of the total stock. The index was significantly higher than the national average of 0.6 percent, according to CommercialEdge data.

Notable properties currently underway include Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.’s construction of the largest industrial property in Greater Phoenix, rising in the metro’s North Gateway submarket. The facility at 5088 W. Innovation Circle will be the most advanced semiconductor fabrication plant on U.S. soil, spanning 805 acres and encompassing a total of 3.8 million square feet. Construction began in 2021, while completion is expected at the beginning of next year.

Lucid Motors commenced construction on Lucid Advanced Manufacturing Plant-1, a 2.8 million-square-foot facility in Casa Grande, with completion planned later this year. Spanning over 470 acres, the development will become one of the largest industrial facilities in Phoenix.

Deliveries maintain a steady flow

Year-to-date through June, 17.4 million square feet of industrial space came online in Phoenix. Deliveries accounted for 4.3 percent of the market’s total stock, surpassing almost four times the 1.1 percent national average.

Among peer markets, the metro outpaced New Jersey (4.8 million square feet), Chicago (8.8 million square feet) and Atlanta (4.1 million square feet) for industrial deliveries, but trailed Dallas (20.4 million square feet) and the Inland Empire (18 million square feet).

At the beginning of 2024, US Capital Development completed The Paloma Vista Logistics Center Building 1, a 1 million-square-foot cross-dock facility located in Buckeye, Ariz.

In May, Kohler Co. also officially opened its almost 1 million-square-foot manufacturing facility in Casa Grande, Ariz. The developer broke ground on the project more than two years ago.

Sale prices higher than the national average

Phoenix’s industrial sales volume registered more than $1 billion in transactions in the first half of 2024. Spread across 86 properties, almost 6.8 million square feet of industrial space traded across the metro.

Facilities changed hands for an average of $164.49 per square foot, surpassing the $134.92 national average. New Jersey ($244.88 per square foot) and the Inland Empire ($229.61 per square foot) recorded higher average prices, while Chicago ($98.52 per square foot) lagged behind.

In May, Stonelake Capital Partners expanded its Phoenix footprint with the acquisition of two industrial properties totaling 726,802 square feet in Goodyear, Ariz. CIM Group sold the pair for $108 million in an all-cash deal that was one of the largest industrial transactions in metro Phoenix this year.

EQT Exeter has recently purchased I-10 Gateway, a 641,906-square-foot industrial facility in Buckeye, Ariz., for $60.1 million. Developer BET Investments sold the vacant property, which represents the first phase of Buckeye I-10 Logistics, a 145-acre master-planned park.

Vacancy rates continue to grow

The industrial vacancy rate in Phoenix clocked in at 5.2 percent as of June. Indianapolis (5 percent) registered the lowest rate among peer markets, while Chicago (7.0 percent) and New Jersey (7.1 percent) fared worse.

In one of the the most significant recent deals in the metro, Amazon signed a 1 million-square-foot, full-building lease in Buckeye, Ariz. The company closed the 10-year lease at Paloma Vista Logistics Center’s Building B, located at 15301 W. Northern Ave. Tenant improvement plans have been submitted and include architectural, electrical, mechanical and plumbing changes.

Back in March, Amazon committed to another 10-year lease at The Cubes at Glendale’s Building B, a newly built 1.2 million-square-foot industrial facility in Phoenix’ West Valley. The submarket became an industrial hotspot in recent years, due to strong labor market access, a simplified tax system and low cost of doing business.

Representing an over $50 million capital investment, the facility will create over 200 new jobs

漢翔日前宣布將在美國設廠,預計由美國子公司在亞利桑那州購置廠房,首波斥資約合新台幣逾3.3億元,貼近國外系統商,打造穩定供應鏈,創造成本效益,首波瞄準民用飛機零組件訂單,也放眼國防零件訂單。

馬萬鈞今天受訪表示,很早就有赴美國設廠的企圖,近年因疫情造成的缺料問題相當嚴重,客戶和製造端面臨很強大的「短鏈」需求,歐洲、美國客戶都有這方面需求,為爭取訂單並節省運費,這是漢翔在美國設廠的第一個優勢。

第二優勢則是,美國客戶現在希望有一定比例在美國本土製造,更有利於爭取國防相關訂單。

他進一步說,漢翔美國廠位於亞利桑那州鳳凰城附近,近年因台積電前進設廠而聲名大噪,但漢翔其實20多年前,就在鳳凰城與Honeywell合資子公司,為國際渦輪引擎公司ITEC共同生產引擎,所以比台積電早很多年就與鳳凰城有淵源。

生產進度方面,他表示,漢翔美國廠預計2027年開始生產,積極爭取原本沒辦法在台灣製造的訂單,並逐步視需求擴產;他強調漢翔投資步調較為穩健保守,「過去是先取得訂單再建廠,現在是為爭取訂單先布局,其實是一個心理革命」,相當看好民用飛機商機。

此外,受到國際航太供應鏈缺料、斷鏈影響,馬萬鈞坦言,目前勇鷹高教機的交機進度雖然落後,但以年度交機目標18架來看已經完成過半,今年會努力達陣交機目標。

無人機近年因俄烏戰爭打開全球商機與市場,分為軍用軍規、軍用商規兩部分,馬萬鈞表示,國內軍用商規無人機方面已相當成熟,看到中小企業百花齊放的榮景,漢翔也會對國內廠商提供量產協助,目前也獲許多訂單,希望藉由國防需求,推進國內無人機產業還有酬載產業的技術水準與商機。

Phoenix continues to outrank the rest of the nation in industrial construction with nearly 40 million square feet of space underway by the end of June, according to a new CommercialSearch report.

Several massive projects were contributing to that amount and are soon set to deliver, such as Lucid Group Inc.’s electric vehicle factory expansion totaling nearly 3 million square feet and the new Ross Stores Inc. distribution center totaling 1.7 million square feet in Buckeye.

The Valley’s supply of construction has remained high in part because of manufacturing projects but also because developments that were previously delayed are now getting closer to being completed.

Phoenix has five of the top 20 largest industrial projects that are expected to be delivered in the second half of 2024, including speculative developments such as the Prologis 303 business park, Goodyear Airpark and Luke Field.

The largest project under construction in the U.S. that’s set to deliver in Q4 is the Hyundai electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Savannah, Georgia, expected to total 16 million square feet at buildout.

The nearly 40 million square feet of space is poised to expand Phoenix’s supply by nearly 10%, the second-highest expansion compared to current supply in the U.S.

San Francisco's reign as the long-standing host of the SEMICON West conference is coming to an end, with Arizona snatching the title as the new hotspot for America's semiconductor industry. Gov. Katie Hobbs announced with evident pride that Phoenix will be the new rotating home for the conference starting in 2025, with subsequent events being held there in 2027, and 2029. "It has never been more clear that Arizona is the choice to build the economy of the future," Hobbs said in a statement detailed in an official news release.

With this move, Phoenix is positioned to become a major player in the microelectronics industry, which is currently experiencing a surge in manufacturing. The state has scored big projects, including a sprawling factory complex by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., and a significant expansion of Intel's operations in Chandler. The Arizona Commerce Authority cites more than 40 semiconductor expansions in the state since 2020, amounting to over $102 billion in capital investment, and the creation of more than 15,700 jobs.

The premier event, SEMICON West, is expected to bring over 10,000 attendees along with hundreds of exhibitors to the Phoenix Convention Center. This gathering of minds and technology is seen as a boost for the local economy and a sign of Arizona's growing influence in the semiconductor realm. PHOENIX, AZ—Virgin Galactic announced the completion of its new manufacturing facility in Phoenix, Arizona. The facility will be dedicated to the final assembly of its next-generation Delta spaceships, with operations set to begin in Q1 2025.

An initial team of Virgin Galactic technical operators and manufacturing personnel have already started preparing the facility to receive and install tooling, which is expected to arrive in Q4 2024. Major subassemblies, including the wing, fuselage, and feathering system, will begin arriving next year as the team ramps up to build the first two ships of the Delta fleet. After completing ground testing in Phoenix, Virgin Galactic’s mothership will transport the finished spaceships to Spaceport America in New Mexico for flight testing, ahead of commercial operations anticipated to start in 2026.

The versatile facility features two hangars with multiple bays designed for maximum flexibility in building and testing space vehicles. Operations at the facility will be supported by the Company’s digital twin technology, which ensures seamless integration between Virgin Galactic and its suppliers through real-time collaboration, enhancing governance, efficiency, and reliability.

“The completion of our new manufacturing facility marks a significant milestone in developing our fleet of next-generation spaceships, crucial to our scalability and profitability,” said Virgin Galactic CEO Michael Colglazier. “We expect tooling to begin arriving in a few months, enabling us to start final assembly of the spaceships in Q1 2025.”

In May 2024, Virgin Galactic inaugurated a ground testing facility in Southern California for Delta subsystems, including avionics, feather actuation, pneumatics, and hydraulics, utilizing an Iron Bird test rig.

Virgin Galactic’s Delta spaceships will accommodate up to six private passengers and are designed to fly up to eight missions per month, significantly increasing access to space.

This facility will allow UFI to double its liquid production in the state and expand its capabilities to meet growing demands. When the facility is fully operational, UFI plans to hire upwards of 100 employees.

Leveraging a unique liquid-to-powder atomization process and a team of industry experts, the new facility is poised to cater to clients seeking custom powder solutions as part of their food ingredients.

WASHINGTON – Arizona’s unemployment rate fell in May to its lowest rate ever recorded, reaching a seasonally adjusted 3.4% and falling below the previous record of 3.5% recorded in August 2007, according to state data released June 20.

Compared to May 2023, the state had 63,900 more nonfarm jobs.

Unemployment dropped 0.2 percentage points to 3.6% from March to April when seasonally adjusted, according to federal Bureau of Labor Statistics data.

Arizona’s joblessness rate has been better than average. The national rate stood at 4% as of June 7, up from 3.7% a year earlier.

The state’s labor force also has grown faster than the national average for several years – that is, more workers and more jobs – even as the jobless rate has dipped.

Arizona has benefited from billions of dollars in investment from the semiconductor industry, and from Washington.

The CHIPS and Science Act signed by President Joe Biden in 2022 set aside $52 billion to jumpstart domestic semiconductor manufacturing. Much of that is coming to the Phoenix area, with big federal-dollar capital infusions earmarked for Intel Corp.'s plant expansion in Chandler and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company's $65 billion investment into advanced chip fabrication plants in north Phoenix, the biggest foreign investment in state history.

In April, the Commerce Department announced $6.6 billion for the TSMC projects. Intel and TSMC combined are promising that the new factories will create some 6,000 new jobs.

Since Biden took office in January 2021, manufacturing jobs are up about 8% in Arizona – from about 179,000 to 194,000 as of last month, according to the Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity.

Arizona in urgent rush to train skilled workers
Dennis Hoffman, director of the Seidman Research Institute and economics professor at Arizona State University, expects a jump in jobs over the next one to five years as TSMC and Intel open chip fabrication plants in the Phoenix area.

“Where we’re getting a lot of jobs right now is in the construction of (those) facilities,” and from road construction around the Valley related to these projects, he said.

Still, the big issue for Arizona is being able to quickly train a huge number of people who can work at the myriad semiconductor and advanced manufacturing companies that have announced new projects in Arizona in the past two years – adding up to some 20,000 new manufacturing jobs, many of them highly skilled.

A new report from JLL projects that, by 2028, Phoenix will add 7,000 tech jobs to its current workforce; jobs that easily exceed $100,000 a year in annual salary.

Industry, education and government leaders are all working on collaborative efforts to try to fill the hefty job pipeline, including multiple apprenticeship programs being offered now and in development.

Arizona has received $4.7 billion for roads, bridges and public transportation under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, according to a White House fact sheet. Biden signed that law in 2021.

Construction jobs dipped from April to May but the sector is still ahead by about 3,900 jobs from a year earlier.

The new data from the state shows gains from the previous month in the health care and social assistance sector and the manufacturing sector.

Overall, the state lost about 10,000 jobs in the past month, not seasonally adjusted. The state Office of Economic Opportunity described that as typical because of seasonal job losses in state and local education heading into the summer.

Some states have seen dips in unemployment related to people dropping out of the workforce.

That has not been the case in Arizona, according to Doug Walls, the labor market information director for the state economic office. The state saw an additional 2,000 people in the labor force from April to May.

Job growth doesn't translate at the voting booth
And yet, the job boom has yet to translate into popularity for President Joe Biden, despite steps he’s taken to boost growth in manufacturing – a sector that’s seen some of the biggest gains. Polls show him trailing former President Donald Trump in Arizona.

Arizonans are sour on the economy, and pessimistic about their prospects if Biden wins reelection.

A CBS News/YouGov poll of likely Arizona voters last month found that only 17% expect to be better off financially in a second Biden term, compared to 45% if Donald Trump returns to the White House.

Thomas Volgy, professor of political science at the University of Arizona and a former mayor of Tucson, said there’s typically a lag between an improving economy and public perceptions.

He expects the economy to weigh heavily on voters in November, “but it is going to be competing very aggressively with other issues” such as abortion and other cultural topics.

Israel Torres, a Tempe-based political consultant who specializes in labor law, expects voters to eventually give Biden more credit for such “robust job growth,” along with childcare requirements for some federal contractors and stronger worker safety protections.

Together, these policies should be “helpful in moving the needle,” he said. “At the end of the day, when you look at what the president’s administration has done for union workers, I think union workers will actually, at the ballot box, remember that.”

As Biden’s poll numbers reflect, job growth isn’t the only factor in consumer or voter sentiment.

A tight housing market make some feel the economy isn’t on solid ground, along with inflation that spiked 1.9% in the Phoenix region in the last two months, according to BLS data.

Paul Padilla, director of market intelligence at the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, noted that higher grocery prices mean families spend more of their disposable income on food, though in recent weeks, food prices have begun trending lower.

Homeowners are also getting squeezed. In 2020, the median home price in the Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale metro area was about four times median household income. The ratio was about 6 to 1 two years later, according to the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University.

In case you haven’t already heard the news, Mattel is constructing a brand-new, nine-acre theme park called Mattel Adventure Park in Glendale. Slated to open later this year, Mattel has revealed more about the toy-themed attractions coming to this indoor-outdoor theme park.

Barbie
After the box office smash Barbie movie hit theaters in 2023, Barbie has resurfaced in many homes. There will be a state-of-the-art Barbie Beach House at the theme park. Inside the Barbie Beach House, guests will be able to see advanced hologram technology as they participate in the “Barbie Dream Closet Experience.” Barbie can do it all. Guests will experience an innovative “flying theater” where they will go on a journey from outer space to underwater. On top of the dream house will be a rooftop bar where guests can grab a signature beverage and pose behind a Barbie backdrop.

Hot Wheels
In addition to two themed Hot Wheels roller coasters, there will be a Hot Wheels speed challenge, unleashed 4D ride, legends bar, party pit stop, go-karting raceway and skyway.

Masters of the Universe
The Masters of the Universe-themed attraction will be the He-Man vs. Skeletor laser tag. The laser tag arena is said to be a 4,500-square-foot laser tag arena which is themed to be like the Castle Grayskull fortress.

Mattel Games
Mattel also owns several different games that will be implemented into the attractions. These games include UNO! Wild Climb, Mattel Games Mini Golf, Kerplunk Drop Tower, Adventure Pizza Kitchen and Mattel Games Way.

Thomas & Friends
The Thomas & Friends section of the theme park will feature over seven different themed attractions fit for children. In addition to the themed attractions, there will be a themed dockside cafe and play park.

The Mattel Adventure Park is set to be a childhood favorite destination! The theme park will be located at VAI Resort right next to Cardinals Stadium. As the Mattel team is constructing the Glendale, Ariz. location, they are also working on a theme park in Kansas City, Kan.

Company plots 16-building campus in Glendale

QTS is planning a third data center campus in Phoenix, Arizona.

First reported by BizJournal, QTS has filed plans for a new data center campus known as QTS PHX 3 in the Glendale area of the city in Maricopa County.

The Blackstone-owned company aims to develop 16 buildings – each around 180,000 sq ft (16,720 sqm)– totaling around 3 million sq ft (278,710 sqm) on the property, located north of Camelback Road and west of the Loop 303 along Cotton Lane.

QTS’ website says the 375-acre campus will offer 750MW of critical capacity. A 29-acre substation is also reportedly planned.

QTS submitted initial plans for the campus to the city of Glendale in early 2023. The company acquired the site in July 2022 for $255.3 million.

A spokesperson told BJ QTS is investing in Arizona "as a long-term partner" and will continue working with local governments "to ensure growth is additive to the area."

"Once the site is in operation, hundreds of specialized maintenance contractors, engineers, communication specialists, carpenters, landscapers, and IT professionals are needed to execute such projects. We choose markets like Glendale because of access to a highly skilled and motivated workforce," the company told the publication.

QTS currently has two other Phoenix campuses; an 85-acre, 280MW campus at 1200 40th Street; and a 288,000 sq ft (26,755 sqm), 32MW site at 120 East Van Buren Street.

Phoenix is a major data center hub, with the Mesa area a major hub. Companies including EdgeCore, Meta, Novva, Apple, CyrusOne, NTT, Stack, Stream, Prime, Aligned, Iron Mountain, Vantage, Compass, QTS, EdgeConneX, Expedient, and H5 are all present. Microsoft operates a cloud region out of the area. Amazon is planning two campuses in Mesa, while landowner Pacific Proving is also planning to develop a large campus in the state.

GOODYEAR, ARIZ. — Factor has opened a-300,100 square-foot facility in Goodyear to scale its brand. The facility will serve as an industrial kitchen for the company.

The ready-to-eat, meal delivery service brand will employ over 800 employees who will cook meals from scratch, prepare, and fulfill customer orders at the new facility. The facility will be supplied with automated technology as well as sustainable operations, such as CO2 refrigeration.

Factor began in Chicago in 2013 and was later acquired by HelloFresh Group in 2020.

“Ready-to-eat meals continue to be one of the fastest growing segments in the United States, and I’m proud that Factor has become the market leader in this space, providing customers across the US with convenient, high-quality meals,” said Uwe Voss, chief executive officer, HelloFresh North America. “The addition of the Goodyear facility will allow us to increase capacity, serve more customers, and drive further significant growth to our business, all while offering a first-class service. We’re grateful for the partnership with the city of Goodyear and look forward to continuing to support the local community.”

這幾年,美中貿易戰和地緣政治下,台廠能見度大大提升,卻也面臨供應鏈重組,紛紛加速海外布局。墨西哥因為生產成本較低、美墨加關稅優惠,還能就近供應美國客戶,成為新興據點。像是鴻海、和碩、廣達都打算擴大產能,準經濟部長郭智輝日前也提到,新政府有計畫到美墨設科學園區,支持台商。

準經濟部長郭智輝日前喊出,為了支持台商全球布局,新政府有計畫在日本、美國墨西哥設科學園區,大廠帶小廠,供應鏈一同前往。一番話,點出東向的趨勢。

偌大廠房,貨車進進出出,鴻海集團布局墨西哥多年,四月公告加碼投資1.2億美元,市場分析是要擴大AI伺服器產線。不只鴻海,去年特斯拉宣布在墨西哥蓋超級工廠後,和碩也在一年內共投資8572萬美元,兩度擴充當地產能,廣達今年也有計畫。國內最大汽車齒輪傳動零件廠和大也看好美墨邊界,在美國新墨西哥州設廠,初期投資15億台幣。可以預見,將成為美國供應鏈的重要據點。

中經院第二研究所副研究員戴志言:「組裝之後就以美國市場,為一個銷售的基準,可是最近因為地緣政治,還有這些貿易戰爭的問題,開始增加對於墨西哥,投資的這個比重,(台灣)AI伺服器這一邊的,接單生產量的增加,考慮到運輸風險,及供應鏈的完整度來看,在墨西哥這邊所投資的,AI伺服器或是資訊類的產品,未來也有可能增加比重。」

在當地的台商至少258家,根據墨西哥經濟部統計,兩國貿易額從2017年78.6億美元,來到2022年155億,去年國際景氣不佳下仍有149.3億,6年間增加近9成,墨西哥也已成為台灣第8大貿易夥伴。兩國互補性高加上地緣政治下,經貿往來有望更加緊密。

美國拜登政府2022年推出《晶片與科學法案》,業界評估10年後將大有收穫,至2032年,美國半導體製造能力將成長2倍左右,且掌控全球28%先進晶片製造,而雖然中國也致力發展半導體產業,但目前集中在成熟晶片,其先進晶片產能在10年後可能只佔全球2%。

《日經亞洲》報導,據美國半導體協會(SIA)及波士頓顧問公司(BCG)8日報告,預計至2032年,美國生產的10奈米以下晶片將佔全球產能28%,中國則只有2%。

報告認為,拜登政府2022年為避免依賴亞洲供應鏈而推出的《晶片與科學法案》(CHIPS and Science Act)編列390億美元打造美國晶片產業,這份投資預計在接下來10年獲得回報。如果沒有這項法案,2032年美國先進晶片產能只會佔全球的8%。

在2022年時,美國晶片(含所有類型的晶片)產能只佔全球10%,全球其他地方的產能集中於亞洲。但由於《晶片與科學法案》,美國晶片產能將在10年內成長203%,2032年美國製造的晶片將佔全球總量的14%。

報導指出,目前美國和中國一樣,兩者都沒有製造10奈米以下晶片的能力,但由於美國政府的補助,台積電、三星電子、英特爾都已同意增加在美投資,在美國設廠生產先進晶片。

台積電原計畫在亞利桑那州廠製造3奈米晶片,但獲得美國政府66億美元補助後,也將會生產2奈米晶片。獲得64億美元補助的南韓三星也會在德州廠量產2奈米晶片。這就是業界估計美國2032年可製造全球28%的10奈米以下晶片的由來。

中國集中於成熟晶片

相形之下,中國雖然推出了超過1420億美元的政府措施來刺激國內半導體產業,但10年後先進晶片產能卻只能佔全球2%。美國半導體協會主席暨執行長諾佛(John Neuffer)說,這是因為「中國似乎在傳統製程晶片(legacy chips)投入了更多精力」。

舉例來說,中國製10奈米至22奈米晶片,到2032年在全球產能佔比將從6%增加到19%;而28奈米以上的晶片,中國產能在全球佔比將由33%增加到37%。

與此同時,美國對中國半導體出口的壓制,尤其是對最先進晶片、以及晶片製造設備的管制,也是中國尖端晶片在10年後產能佔比會大大落後於美國的原因,即使兩國的先進晶片產能在2022年都是零。

美國半導體協會主席諾佛稱,美方的一些管制可能會減慢中國先進晶片發展的速度,「中國在最先進晶片的起步基礎低得多。雖然美國在製造方面表現下滑,但在設計和研發方面都是第一,且從本行業的歷史來看,幾乎一直都是如此」。

美國商務部長雷蒙多呼籲政府推出《晶片與科學法案2.0版》、或者透過某種形式繼續投資,以便維持美國在半導體的領先地位。不過,美國11月總統大選導致這類補助或激勵措施都陷入不確定性,一些人擔憂川普若重返白宮,可能代表產業政策又將生變。

然而,半導體牽涉各種科技競賽,包含軍武和太空。半導體協會主席諾佛認為,無論選舉結果如何,兩黨都會支持強化美國半導體供應鏈。

The new Buckeye facility represents an investment of $95 million between Republic and Ravago as joint venture partners

PHOENIX — Phoenix-based Republic Services Inc. (NYSE: RSG) is partnering with international plastics maker Ravago to build a new recycled plastics production facility in metro Phoenix.

The 165,000-square-foot building will support "container to container" recycling in manufacturing of products, said Tim Oudman, senior vice president of sustainability innovation at Republic Services, one of the largest recyclers in the U.S.

Currently, most rigid plastics that are processed through a recycling center are down-cycled, so those products only get one more use in products such as clothes or pipes, Oudman said. The new Buckeye facility represents an investment of $95 million between Republic and Ravago as joint venture partners and will support the ongoing reuse of certain plastics. The joint venture business is branded as Blue Polymers LLC.

"We're making this investment to advance plastic circulation, we're trying to advance a circular economy," Oudman told the Business Journal.

In Buckeye AZ, Fortescue Plans Green Hydrogen Facility

Fortescue marked a new phase in the development of the company’s $550 million venture into green hydrogen production in the United States, the first of Fortescue’s planned green energy investments in North America with a soil turn ceremony and renaming of its green hydrogen facility in Buckeye, Arizona to Arizona Hydrogen.

On May 2, Fortescue Executive Chair and Founder Dr. Andrew Forrest AO was joined by local government, economic development and community leaders including Gila River Indian Community Governor Steven Roe Lewis, Sandra Watson, President and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority and Buckeye Mayor Eric Orsborn.

At the 158-acre facility site, Dr. Forrest praised the Biden Administration’s commitment to the energy transition, but cautioned there is more work to be done.

According to new economic data from NDP Analytics, during the two-year construction phase, Arizona Hydrogen has the potential to create up to 2,244 direct, indirect, and induced jobs that could earn $124.2 million in wages. The facility could add $187.8 million to Arizona’s GDP and generate a potential $31.7 million in income and sales taxes for state and local governments.

During the operation phase, Arizona Hydrogen is expected to employ 40 people at the facility itself, as part of a potential 431 direct, indirect, and induced jobs that could earn $29.3 million in wages. Arizona Hydrogen could also add $59.2 million to Arizona’s GDP, and generate $9.1 million income and sales taxes for state and local governments annually.

“Today is an exciting milestone for the future of Arizona’s clean energy economy,” said Watson. “Arizona Hydrogen strengthens Arizona’s position as a national sustainability leader at the forefront of clean energy technologies and innovation. We are grateful to Dr. Forrest and the entire Fortescue team for their commitment to Arizona, and we look forward to supporting Fortescue’s long-term success in Buckeye.”

“Buckeye is happy to welcome Arizona Hydrogen to the Sustainable Valley,” said Buckeye Mayor Eric Orsborn. “Fortescue’s investment in our community helps Buckeye, and the entire state of Arizona, continue to grow efficiently and sustainably for generations to come.”

Arizona Hydrogen is slated to produce up to 11,000 tons of liquid green hydrogen annually and is strategically positioned to significantly contribute to the decarbonization of the heavy-duty on-road transportation sector. The southwest market consumes approximately 5 billion gallons of diesel annually in heavy-duty transport, making PHH a vital player for reducing emissions in the mobility sector.

台積電(2330)昨(8)日和美國商務部共同宣布,台積電美國投資案,最高可獲得美方66億美元(約新台幣2,112億元)直接補助;台積電並二度拉高美國投資金額至逾650億美元(逾新台幣2兆元),同時宣布要在美國設立第三座廠,預計將在2030年前導入2奈米製程或更先進的製程。

台積電表示,上述補助案,是由美國商務部和台積亞利桑那(TSMC Arizona)共同簽署一份不具約束力的初步備忘錄,並基於美國《晶片與科學法》,台積電除了獲得美方最高66億美元的補助外,另可獲得最高50億美元(約新台幣1,600億元)貸款。

台積電董事長劉德音透過新聞稿指出,《晶片與科學法》為台積電創造了機會,推動這項前所未有的投資,使台積能以在美國最先進的製造技術提供晶圓製造服務,「讓我們能更好地協助我們的美國客戶,其中包括數間全球領先的科技公司」。台積電總裁魏哲家表示,藉由提升TSMC Arizona在先進製程技術上的產能,來幫助客戶釋放創新。

之前台積電曾調高美國投資總金額至400億美元,昨天宣布二度調高美國投資額度至逾650億美元,調幅高達62.5%。

台積電指出,亞利桑那首座晶圓廠依進度,將於2025上半年開始生產4奈米製程技術,第二座廠除了3奈米,並將於2028年生產2奈米。至於第三座晶圓廠預計將在21世紀20年代底(2029~2030年),採用2奈米或更先進的製程技術進行晶片生產。

美國商務部對半導體大廠赴美投資補助陸續出爐,目前以英特爾獲85億美元補助,外加110億美元貸款規模最大。業界並傳出,三星規劃於美國時間4月15日與美國官方共同宣布追加投資美國泰勒廠,屆時美國官方補助細節也將公布。

台積電日本廠獲官方補助總額最高,日方補助台積電熊本一廠4,760億日圓,以及補助7,320億日圓建二廠,總計將投入約1.2兆日圓(約新台幣2,500億元)。

連接美國洛杉磯與拉斯維加斯的高鐵「Brightline West」22日於拉斯維加斯舉行破土典禮,這項耗資120億美元(約3,840億元新台幣)的興建計劃預計將在2028年完工通車。

交通部長布塔朱吉(Pete Buttigieg)開心表示,「幾十年來民眾一直期盼的高鐵,這次真的實現了。」他更透露,Brightline West興建計劃將為當地帶來數千個工作機會,提振當地經濟並減少交通和空氣污染。

負責興建的私營鐵路公司Brightline Holdings則表示,Brightline West全長351公里,列車最高運行速度為每小時322公里,起點到終點只需約2小時的車程。

據悉從洛杉磯到拉斯維加斯只有一條15 號州際公路,一般需要四個半小時以上,更別提週末連假有多塞,高鐵建成後,兩地之間的旅行時間將縮短一半。

總部位於佛羅裡達州的 Brightline Holdings 在2018年完成了邁阿密線,並於去年 9 月擴大了至奧蘭多國際機場的服務,列車速度高達200 公里/小時,每天提供 16 個來回車次,單程票價約為80美元(約2,560元新台幣)。而Brightline West將會是美國第一條時速超過300公里的高速鐵路,與日本的新幹線相當;目前票價尚未確定,但預計會比機票便宜得多。

Brightline Holdings表示,Brightline West預計在2028年洛杉磯奧運前通車。

Officials broke ground Monday on a new high-speed rail system that will connect Southern California and Las Vegas.

The Brightline West system will average speeds of about 115 miles per hour and reach a top speed of around 200 mph, comparable to other high-speed systems around the world. The Eurostar between London and Paris averages speeds of about 150 mph and tops out at around 200 mph. Amtrak’s current Acela line from Boston to Washington, D.C., travels up to 150 mph, but averages speeds of just 70 mph. Acela has plans for a high-speed fleet that will reach 160 mph.

The Brightline West system, touted as the “first true high-speed rail system” in the U.S., will run across a 218-mile route between Las Vegas and three California stops including Rancho Cucamonga, about 40 miles east of Los Angeles.

The project received $3 billion in funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the rest will be privately funded, according to the company.

“I’m convinced that the first time Americans actually experience American high-speed rail on U.S. soil, there’s going to be no going back and people are going to expect and demand it all across the country,” Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said in a CNBC interview on Monday.

Brightline West aims to be operational in 2028, when Los Angeles hosts the Summer Olympics. The train will get passengers from Southern California to Las Vegas in about two hours, about half the driving time according to the company.

The project is expected to have an over $10 billion economic impact and will create more than 35,000 jobs in Nevada and California during the construction, according to the release.

“Through this visionary partnership, we are going to create thousands of jobs, bring critical transportation infrastructure to the West, and create an innovative, fast, and sustainable transportation solution,” Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo said in a statement Monday.

Brightline’s first rail system launched in Florida and the route spans between Miami and Orlando. Trains reach speeds of up to 125 mph, connecting the two cities in about 3.5 hours.

“People have been dreaming of high-speed rail in America for decades — and now, with billions of dollars of support made possible by President Biden’s historic infrastructure law, it’s finally happening,” Buttigieg said in the release.

Copia Power is constructing a $1.2 billion solar project on 14,000 acres west of Phoenix. Funding was secured with the help of Crédit Agricole CIB, BNP Paribas, Natixis CIB, and SMBC. Copia is backed by The Carlyle Group, who has committed more than $700 million in equity to the platform to date.

The project is slated for the Harquahala Valley, 60 miles west of Phoenix, and when complete will produce 450MW of solar generation. It will also include 300MW/1200 MWh of battery energy storage. This is enough energy to power 500,000 homes. Over 700 jobs will be created during construction.

The first phase is expected to be completed early next year. SOLV Energy will build the project.

The project’s energy output is in demand due to commitments nearby large energy users have made to utilize renewable energy. Copia Power is actively developing more than 17 GW of solar and storage projects across the U.S.

As ABC15 reports, the tech company has begun the heavy lifting of fitting out its plant, hauling in loads of high-tech gear to meet a mid-2024 ribbon cutting. Striding beyond initial plans, the 1.5-gigawatt output initially aimed for has fattened to 2 gigawatts, thanks to juicy deals with firms like Ingka Investments and BayWa r.e.

With 630 jobs on the line and a daily output quota of 10,000 solar modules, Meyer Burger's 276,000-square-foot plant isn't just another warehouse in the desert. In step with the solar facility, the Swiss have shown a prior flirtation with Colorado by planting a solar cell production site in an old Intel haunt, taking a shortcut to a swift start, and dodging a three-year wait, as they brought it live within a mere 18 months turning out nearly a million cells daily as the Phoenix Business Journal illuminated.

With the Inflation Reduction Act as a tailwind, Meyer Burger is not just transplanting their cell production to U.S. soil earlier than expected; they're banking on Colorado and Arizona to turn out millions of solar cells to keep up with U.S. demand. "We decided to fast forward and bring the cell to the U.S. sooner. It's always something we had an appetite for we just didn't know when it was going to happen," Ardes Johnson, president of Meyer Burger Americas, shared his hunger for stateside growth with ABC15.

Meyer Burger dangles a full deck of benefits including health insurance, time off, and retirement plans while promising upward mobility. Openings sprawl from line operators to engineers and the hunt for talent is local gravy, with Meyer Burger tapping neighborhood schools and agencies for recruits.

據FOXLA報導,美國人口普查局估計,2017至2021年間,鳳凰城不僅是加州人的熱門搬遷目的地,也是全美國人最喜愛的搬家目的地之一。

在此期間,每五個搬到亞利桑那州的美國人中,就有一人來自加州——遷居總人數約18.4萬;其次是華盛頓州,搬遷至該州人數略高於5萬;列在前五位的還有德州、伊利諾伊和科羅拉多州。

然而,這不意味著人們不會選擇離開亞利桑那州:南加州洛杉磯縣和聖地亞哥縣均有約2.5萬人是從亞利桑那州搬去的。

據人口普查局數據,亞利桑那州馬里科帕縣(Maricopa County)是2021年7月至2022年7月間美國「人口增長最多的縣」;相反,洛杉磯縣人口跌幅在全美各縣中最大,有超過9萬人離開。

國境全面開放,疫情影響弱化,主計總處14日公布「111年國人赴海外工作人數統計」,國人赴海外工作人數跳升至47.3萬人,較前1年大幅增加15.4萬人;受台積電赴美投資、設廠等影響,赴美國工作的人數暴增近5萬人,大幅超越東南亞增加的3.1萬人,也超越赴日韓及中國大陸者,去年分別增加1.7萬人及1.4萬人。

即使去年赴海外工作人數大幅增加15.4萬人、年增率達48.4%,但主計總處官員表示,若與108年高峰、73.9萬人相比,還足足差了26.6萬人;官員表示,以區域來分,僅赴美工作人數正式超越疫情前,其他國家或地區,皆尚未回到疫情前水準。

赴美國工作人數大增,官員分析,除台積電投資、設廠外,也因台灣與美國貿易往來密切有關,其他企業也赴美投資,人力需求因而跟著增加;此外,國境開放不必隔離,海外工作者能自由進出台灣與工作地,恢復中華民國戶籍的人數也大增,進而推升海外、赴美工作的人數統計。

主計總處統計顯示,去年國人赴海外工作地區(國家),中國大陸(含港澳)17.7萬人、占37.5%最高,其次是美國10.3萬人,占21.8%,東南亞7.1萬人,占15.0%,日韓4萬人、占8.5%。

儘管國人以赴中國大陸工作人數17.7萬人最多,但與100年占比62%、逾42萬大軍相比不可同日而語,如今占比降至37.5%堪稱是史上最低。官員分析,這與陸美貿易大戰打到科技戰,供應鏈重組下,台商赴美、東南亞投資都有增加,加上大陸去年疫情管控,解封也較慢,赴海外的工作版圖因而受到影響。

統計也顯示,赴美工作人數10.3萬人、占比21.8%,兩個數據紛紛創下新高;官員坦言,就國人赴海外工作的版圖,美國、中國大陸是朝反向發展。

值得注意的是,過去海外工作以男性為主,現在女性比例有大幅拉近的趨勢,男性25.4萬人,占比53.6%;女性22萬人、占46.4%,但去年女性新增海外工作人數9萬人,比男性增加6.6萬人多;而男性往大陸及東南亞工作者多,女性則偏重美日韓。

半導體封裝測試大廠艾克爾(Amkor)30日宣布將斥資20億美元,在美國亞利桑那州興建先進封裝測試廠,以利為當地台積電代工的蘋果晶片進行封測工作。

艾克爾的新廠設在亞利桑那州皮奧利亞市(Peoria),預計招聘2,000名員工,將是美國最大的先進封裝測試廠,蘋果將是其第一位也是最大客戶。

艾克爾已在當地取得約55英畝土地,將打造先進製造園區,作為無塵室的空間超過50萬平方英尺。建廠第一階段的目標是在未來2至3年投產。

艾克爾總裁暨執行長魯騰(Giel Rutten)指出,「美國半導體供應鏈擴張正在進行中,身為美國最大先進封測公司,艾克爾很高興能引領美國提升先進封裝能力。」

蘋果證實拓展與艾克爾的合作關係。蘋果營運長威廉斯(Jeff Williams)表示,「蘋果承諾協助在美國打造先進製造的新時代。蘋果與艾克爾合作超過12年,封裝晶片廣泛用於蘋果產品,很高興雙方合作關係能把最大的委外封測代工廠(OSAT)廠帶進美國。」

When looking at Las Vegas’ recent rapid residential and commercial real estate expansion, along with its economic development boom, the usual suspects come to mind: Apex Industrial Park in North Las Vegas, west Henderson, the affluent master-planned community of Summerlin and of course, the Strip.

But what about the township of Enterprise and the southwest portion of the valley? According to statistics from Clark County, Enterprise is the fastest-growing unincorporated area in the valley and if it incorporated, it would be the fourth-largest city behind Las Vegas, Henderson and North Las Vegas.

Clark County Commissioner Justin Jones said the enclave has been around awhile and it was the building of a main transportation artery that shot it into overdrive.

“Enterprise really started to explode with the construction of the 215 Beltway and development of the Rhodes Ranch, Mountain’s Edge and Southern Highlands master-planned communities, which began more than 20 years ago,” he said. “With the beltway providing connection to the Summerlin and Henderson communities and easy access to the airport and the Strip, Enterprise was highly attractive to working families and businesses.”

The area, which starts south of the 215 in the east roughly at Fort Apache Road and Warm Springs Road, encompasses approximately 66 square miles or 42,600 acres down to where Interstate 15 intersects with St. Rose Parkway. The southern portion of Las Vegas Boulevard, south of the 215, is a sleeping giant in terms of real estate and potential economic development. There is a planned high-speed rail Brightline Station linking the area directly to Los Angeles, a potential NBA arena and mega casino, plus a number of high-profile resort and residential projects in the works, all of which fall within Enterprise’s boundaries.

Clark County statistics show Enterprise has 233,896 residents as of last year along with 185, 506 single-family homes and more than 25,000 apartment units. Las Vegas Realtors President -Elect Merri Perry, who has been working in the valley since the late 1980s, said the area has become a hotspot in terms of residential real estate for a number of reasons.

“You have these thriving planned communities like Mountain’s Edge and Southern Islands that have been developed in recent years,” she said. “And then you have people coming from California with money and they’re looking at different areas like say on the outskirts of the valley. The locals view the southwest part of the valley as increasingly convenient and halfway between the areas of Green Valley and Summerlin and Henderson.”

根據這份美國銀行「住房走勢:房屋建築和購房者洞察報告」(Housing Morsel: Home Building / Homebuyers Insights Report)的數據,嬰兒潮一代是美國的主要購房者。他們雖然不再是美國最富有的一代,但他們卻擁有最多的財富。最受嬰兒潮一代國內移民歡迎的5個目的地城市中,拉斯維加斯位列第一,超過鳳凰城、坦帕、奧蘭多和奧斯汀等其它熱門城市。

拉斯維加斯為什麼如此受嬰兒潮一代的退休者歡迎呢?

擁有美國「娛樂之都」稱號的拉斯維加斯,除了以其豐富多彩的時尚生活,給居民帶來無窮無盡的娛樂海外,還受益於沒有州所得稅的政策;相對於加州等徵收高額所得稅的各州,相當於給退休者提供了一種特殊的退休津貼。

沒有對比就沒有傷害。與加州對比,內華達州的退休優勢一目了然。在內華達州,所有形式的退休收入,包括401(K)、IRA和所有其它退休帳戶以及被動收入,都免收州稅。加州的個人所得稅率為1%~13.3%。內華達州這種免稅政策,幫助內州內退休者每年省下大量費用。

另外,加州的銷售稅也高於內華達州。除了食品和處方藥可豁免外,加州的銷售稅通常是8.25%,有的地方可能高達10%。在拉斯維加斯,2023年銷售稅為8.38%,包括州縣市所有的銷售稅。而在洛杉磯縣為9.5%,有的縣更高,最多的為10.25%。每次在加州購物消費,都要付更多錢,一年下來也是一筆不小的開支。

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -- A groundbreaking project will bring new facilities for the Phoenix Suns and Mercury to the downtown Phoenix area. On Thursday, team owner Mat Ishbia announced a $100 million investment that will be used to build a new headquarters for both teams and a state-of-the-art practice facility for the Mercury.

The new sports campus will span 65,000 square feet, with over 58,000 square feet dedicated to the Mercury practice facility. The Mercury players and staff will have 24/7 access to the building, featuring two practice courts, a fitness room, hot and cold pools, underwater treadmills, a film room and a player and family lounge. The women’s team will also have an in-house kitchen and chef. The new business area will be in Phoenix’s Warehouse District near Footprint Center, where both teams play.

The headquarters will also feature plenty of brand-new amenities. Officials say there will be indoor and outdoor basketball courts, an indoor arcade, a pickleball court, a putting green, a workout facility and a kitchen. There will also be a Suns and Mercury team shop within the building.

“We are working every day to make the Phoenix Suns and Mercury a world-class organization on and off the floor,” Ishbia said in a statement. “You create great culture by investing in people. A basketball franchise is so much more than a normal business, it is a catalyst for change. I am so excited to be making an investment that builds on our vision for the Phoenix Suns and Mercury to continue investing in our players, team members, fans and community.”

GOODYEAR, ARIZ. — Factor has opened a-300,100 square-foot facility in Goodyear to scale its brand. The facility will serve as an industrial kitchen for the company.

The ready-to-eat, meal delivery service brand will employ over 800 employees who will cook meals from scratch, prepare, and fulfill customer orders at the new facility. The facility will be supplied with automated technology as well as sustainable operations, such as CO2 refrigeration.

Factor began in Chicago in 2013 and was later acquired by HelloFresh Group in 2020.

“Ready-to-eat meals continue to be one of the fastest growing segments in the United States, and I’m proud that Factor has become the market leader in this space, providing customers across the US with convenient, high-quality meals,” said Uwe Voss, chief executive officer, HelloFresh North America. “The addition of the Goodyear facility will allow us to increase capacity, serve more customers, and drive further significant growth to our business, all while offering a first-class service. Pipe Manufacturer Announces Suburban Phoenix Plant, Distribution Hub
Romac Industries said the campus would increase its efficiency and streamline operations.

GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Romac Industries Inc., a manufacturer of pipe products for the waterworks and wastewater industries, announced it has leased a new manufacturing and distribution facility in Goodyear, developed and owned in a partnership between Baker Development, Foundation Capital and GTIS Partners LP.

The facility will commence the first phase of operations in August, and expects to be fully operational by December 2023 and generate job creation for years to come.

Representing a significant investment, the 60,000-square-foot manufacturing and distribution facility located at 14160 W. Yuma Rd. will help Romac increase efficiency and streamline operations. The new facility will include powder coating, light assembly of pipe fittings for new construction as well as couplings and repair products to support the waterworks industry infrastructure.

“Expanding our manufacturing operations in Arizona aligns with our long-standing commitment to domestic manufacturing,” said Josh Larkin, president of Romac. “Access to a skilled labor force, proximity to key customers in a high growth market and access to critical supply chain vendors were all factors that led to the decision to invest in our new Goodyear location. We will be able to leverage these advantages to support our continued success.”
